Got SCAMMED buying a act 2100!!!

hey well i bought an act 2100 clutch from a guy a few weeks ago and my mechanic goes to put my clutch in after the re-build and all it does is grind. the mechanic tells me the clutch aint for my car, and the release bearing he sent me wasnt even the right one! i dont know what the hell to do. im screwed!!! something to do with the fork or somthing not going far enough or something, and the only way he said it would work if he put a bigger stud or something. but he doesnt wanna do that cause he said it would prolly screw it it up. and if i have to wait on another act its gonna take at least a week, and my mechanic cant let my car sit there! i dont wanna put a stock one in cause i know it wont hold for long. ive never been so pissed off in my life!!!

with out being able to do it your self.. all ya can do it take his word for it that the TOB was the wrong one.

try adjusting the clutch master cylinder rod

Remember to adjust your clutch pedal. Its always a good idea to place a washer on your pivot ball when you had the tranny out. My tranny grinded like crazy when we finished installing the clutch, but after we adjusted it, everything shifted smoothly.

Did you also change your flywheel? If not, did you machine the stock flywheel for a good fit with the new clutch?

Did the clutch come in a box? If you have pictures, I can tell you if the clutch is 2100 or not. I just installed mine about two weeks ago.

Off topic, but how long did it take you to install? I have the 2100 as well, but haven't had time to put it on.

It took about four hours to install, because I had a problem getting the bolts off the stock flywheel (which I saw had three cracks in it). Most of the time is spent on removing items to make way for the real work. Once you get down to taking the tranny off and putting the clutch it, it's pretty simple. I had to heat the bolts with a torch and tap them counterclockwise with a chisel until they turned. Then the reinstall was easy.

we used the good old washer trick, dammit, i cant belive the problems i had with this. but thanks for the advise everyone.

use an air gun to take off the bolts on the flywheel...also..make sure the 4 tranny bolts are in place...two on bottom..two on top..if one is missing or snapped off the tranny will grind and sway like a son of a bi***..and the flywheel will rub on the trans
