ok i just got my new stereo and installed it. it is a rockford fosgate 801s amp and two rockford fosgate HE2 12"s with a ten gauge wiring kit and 25 amp fuse. ok first of all i am going to get eather a 1 gauge or a 4 gauge wiring and a 100 amp fuse but right now i was wondering why when i turn it upo it sounds pretty good in the car hits nice and deep but you can not hear it 3 feet away from the car? could it be the wiring and the fuse not but enough and getting full power? cause i want it nice and loud in and out of car. also what way should my box be facing for best performance i had it forward but now it faces back i couldn't really tell difference. so if anyone could give me some pointers or any help at all would be great cause i really want to feel the bass and i want other people to also.

if you want to be 'cool' and have your stereo be heard 10 blocks away, you'll need a ported setup. They get REALLY boomy and loud. I dont like ported because you lose some SQ and it tends to sound a bit sloppy to me.

Either build a ported box or find a cheap bandpass. It'll sound like balls, but it will rattle your spleen

Also, you need a minimum of 4 guage kit with that setup. 10 gauge is good for nothing except maybe a bass tube or TIIIINY amp.

Best performance for a hatch? in a 2g? when i had my 2g eclipse, i had my subs firing towards the back of the car. i tried that and pointing at the hatch glass, but i liked pointing to the back better.

The distance you can hear bass from your car depends on many things...probably nothing to do with your wiring however. Different frequencies produce sound waves, how these sound waves travel depends on your car, your subs, amp/power, enclosure size and type, and how your enclosure is aiming.

Why do want your bass to be so loud "outside" your car anyways?? Alot of people frown upon this, not to mention you could possibly receive a ticket for noise pollution.

well i hear what you are saying but i don't mean ten blocks or anything i just mean it is wierd it is deep as hell in car but out of car not at all. the reason i want to be able to hear it a little is cause i like to go to this car audio place at night and show off my dsm and to put the little honda boys to shame. plus there are only about 3 dsm were i live that have any mods done at all. sorry to sound like a little ricer but i like to piss off honda owners. dont we all? later.

Definately need bigger wires. I think that they sound better facing in the car. Dunno if it makes it louder outside. How many watts is your amp?

yeah the amp is 800 watts rms and 2400 watts peak and subs are 400 watss rms and 800 peak. so i replaced the fuse cause it blew and i seems to sound better i am getting a 4 gauge wiring kit from lighting audio and it comes with 60 amp fuse and fuse holder. is that going to be ok?
