I recently I changed my stock uicp with turbo xs typeh and adapter to greddy pipe with type rs bov including that 90 degree angle that mounts to stock intercooler. After I installed everything I tested the car by revved the car and the bov worked well and loud, I have it vented.
So I follow the procedure and proceed to drive around town testing out the bov. Well, it doesnt seem to work at all, my boost gauge seems same pressure as it was before which is around 14 psi. No pressure drop so I know its not leaking. All I get is compressor surge whenever I shift or let off gas under boost. Havent tried adjusting yet, but would that really make the difference? I just hope the bov aint deead.
Also, I do see some kind of different fitting for the vaccum like a 90 degree vaccum nipple that rotates but doesnt get tight, the previous owner said thats normal and was installed so that it can work universally with different cars.

You bought the wrong blow off valve if you wanted it for venting really loud. The Greddy is actually a quiet blow off valve overall compared to some. You should of bought a TURBO XS RFL or a TURBOSMART MEGA SONIC. Now with these valves, you would be needing a GM MAF-T with a 3.0 GM MAF (minimum size). Then you would have to hook up the MAF after the blow off valve and before the throttlebody.

DSM's are actually reliable if you treat them right. My original DSM went to 200,000 Miles before the engine quit. Don't drive these cars like they owe you money, I guarantee you will get many trouble free miles out of them.

DSM's are not complicated at all, they are pretty simple. It just sucks when you buy a second hand car with a history you don't know about. I have had my 95 talon for 6 years now and it never gave me any problems. It only gave me problems when I drive the car like there is no tomorrow LOL.

I hate the turbo xs one and I have to use a greddy bov or 1g ### im using greddy uicp. I dont think dsms are reliable at all, they are very sadly built, mitsubishi's engineering sucks on these, I dont know about the newer style but these were built shitty, their engineering sucked up the ass when they built these.
These cars have an extremely more complicated system than honda and toyotas. My civic went up to 150k miles without a timing belt change, even after the abuse it went through. The design of this car wasnt very well thought of either. I had a200whp civic that felt way faster than this, also handled wayyyyyyyyyyy better. THis thing handles like shit if you ask me, if I were to autox with this car and my civic I would put hands down on the fwd civic. However, I cannot go wot on the civic in the rain at all, with this car, I can go wot and wont hydroplane.. THe suspension is tokicos with eibach sport kit, the red one that drops lower. THis wasnt done by me either, it was the previous owner that shit. Car handles like shit, I just put on a camber kit hopefully it will be better though

My next car will be a luxury car after Im through with squeezing 400awhp with this one, that is... if it doesnt break down before I do.

I've had my greddy RS recirculated for a year now and just recently I upgraded to a 16g @ 17 psi and my bov sound went from a full WHOOSH to a quick Peeeoww pew pew (sorry for the bad sound explanation thing). But yeah I don't think the RS is the bov to go with if you want loud, as these guys explained.

Like everyone else has said, the RS is very quiet. I don't hear it at all on WOT shifts. You bought the wrong BOV.

While you're at it. Adjust it full soft. I'm not even going to explain why, I've done it enough times already. Find any "BOV not working" or "BOV flutter" topic and it will have one of my explainations in there.:beatentodeath:

If these cars are such crap, then how are you getting 400whp out of a mostly if not completely stock interal motor and head? I'm the biggest Honda supporter this site has ever seen, but even I know you need serious money and lots of forged stuff to get 400whp out of any Honda. You're car handles like garbage for 2 reasons. Its a boat. And the previous owner lowered it right into the ground. These aren't auto-x cars. Mitsu made them as comfortable but quick GT's, kind the civil and relaxed version of the Evo. They aren't track cars, they weren't designed to be. I'm amazed at how most people beat these poor things to death and then turn around and call them "unreliable". Yea its not a Toyota or Honda, but its also like 8-16 years old and most likely had a hard life. Give it a break.

Id seen people push out nearly 300whp on stock internals and counting, with a standalone and a good tune.

I still dont think mitsu is reliable at all. Why do you think their resale value goes down so quick. Its not they arent unreliable, but they require alot of matinence, such as doing the timing belt components every 60k miles instead of the 110k that honda has to offer?
why is that? also I had a 93 civic with 200k miles and I beat the shit out of that, yet all I ever really did was a radiator. A 8-16 year old honda would last wayyyy longer than this. Anyone and everyone that thinks this is as reliable as honda or toyota is an idiot.

BTW even if the honda makes like 200-300 whp, it still seems faster because it is lighter, so if I was in the honda, I would be happy with 300 to the wheels, and surely the honda would still beat the 4g63 with 400 because these things weigh like 3300+ for awds?

ive also seen newer mitsubishi cars break down much faster. I had a friend with an 03-04 outlander, not sure which year but yea it was pretty new, the matinence he has done to it is ridiculus. He has about 40k miles and already had a problem with internals, leaky valve cover gasket and im not sure so dont quote me on this, but I think he has done a rebuild already. Im not saying eclipse in general, Im talking mitsubishi.. its stock too!

I really did buy this car knowing I would have to do alot of matinence but thats fine since I get parts cheap and do most general labor, I was willing to give it a shot and here I am... replacing things like I imagined of doing.

K well now that this has turned into a completely different topic...Lemme just ask then give me the price its going to take to get 400 WHEEL horsepower out of a honda compared to a dsm.Thousands more.

lets just say alot more... ive been through and done that already so I know, but what im really trying to say is that most hondas do have the weight advantage which is a big plus.
actually ive sen many that have run over 400 whp on stock internals, have you heard of the kseries? clubrsx.com has many there, what I was referring to was the sohc civics with d series motors which was what i had.

Well lets put it this way I've had my car for a year now and i've done all my 60k mile preventive matinence as well as changing my oil often and not driving the car like a moron everywhere and I've had absolutely 0 problems. I find that the reliability of this car is up to par with any other car you can throw at is as long as you do the matinence you are supposed to do.

Same with me. You are supposed to do all the Preventive maintenance on a car before you start modding it or racing it. Dogging the sh*& out of any car for that matter will dog you out when you least expect it. My buddy had a CRX 92, all tricked out, he let some of the thing go, he always talked crap about my DSM, knowing mine was faster and alot better condition than his, he ended up getting crank walk on his little B series or D series whatever crap engine. It's ironic all the crap he talked about my DSM's getting cwalk, and he ended up getting it due to improper care. So dont give me any of that crap about Hondas and Toyota's running forever, 75 MPH at a brick wall does the same thing to any car. And so does dogging it everyday you have it. :beatentodeath: That is what most people do to our DSM's, cause they think they will last forever. The guy before just dogged it too, and gave you all the problems. He reaped all the benefits, you got all the crap. This happens all the time. I did all the necessary care on mine, and I have no regrets or no problems with my DSM. Treat it well and it will treat you well too. :talon:

^Exactly.

People push 25psi on bone stock 4G63's and then call them unreliable when they break. Its rediculous. How many other cars do you know of that will run 11's at full street weight on bone stock bottom ends, axles, transmissions, rear ends, heads, intake manifolds, etc. Nothing made by Honda comes to mind.

Why are 8-16 year old Hondas more reliable? Do you know of any stock forced induction Civics or Integras? Neither do I. Camrys run 200k with no maintainence more than oil changes, does that mean they'll make 400whp with just a big turbo and supporting fuel? No.

No Honda makes 300-400whp on a stock internal motor for more than a month, not even a K series. Trust me, I've been there and done that. I'm impressed with the power those motors can make with very little boost, but they just don't last unless fully built. All the good tuning in the world doesn't keep your open deck cylinders from flexing and cracking. FYI, aftermarket forged pistons and rods on a stock crank with sleeved cylinders is not "stock internals". I know Honda guys will say they have "stock internals" if any ONE peice of the motor is still stock. Again, been there... done that.

I am a Honda guy, I just drive this pile because Honda doesn't make an AWD car. But I also respect it to, its an impressive car. Honda makes awsome cars and I'm planning on my next car being a boosted Del Sol, but please don't try to make them out to be super cars. They aren't invincible, the stock motors are weak little toys, and they don't handle boost well at all, don't pretend they do.

Exactly my point too...
