Anyone know about the new BOV. It's a compromise of the S and R (40mm Valve Diameter) and a whole lot better looking than both. I wonder about re-circ capabilities (weird blue flange) and how much pressure it will hold. Comments...?

Oh, and I did a search, but as you can imagine there were a lot of misses on a site with RS as a trim of the car and with GReddy BOVs so popular. If it's a repost... Sorry!

The type s does not come with a flange, it does have the ability to be re-circ out of the box.
as in it comes with the parts or do I just use the parts already on my talon?

As in it has the ability to attach to your recirc hose that goes from your intake to your current BOV without any other parts. You still need the adapter flange if you want to use the stock intercooler pipe.

The RS just came in the mail today. I installed it..........and I love it. No more rice!!! This thing is loud as all hell, but doesn't have the ### whistle of the type S. I'm venting to the atmosphere and I'm much happier now.

Any more new on the adjustibilty of this thing or the reccirculation kits. I want to buy a Bov tonight, and I want to know how the performance of this thing is for the people that are using it to reccir.?

IMO it's gonna be just like all the rest of Greedy's BOV's. Leaky peices of monkey turd that actually cause what they're designed to stop, comp surge.

After installation I think I agree w/ you. No matter what I do as far as adjustment I get compressor surge, bad. I think I might put my Piston style Turbo XS type H valve back on. Atleast it let pressure off. The txs valve was louder also, like that matters.

I really wish I could get this thing adjusted, to the others who have installed it, you get no comp. surge (fluttering noise). Mine is bad. Also the first time I ran this valve the pressure inlet nipple broke off, I had to steal one off my turbo XS. Extreme PSI told me to call greddy. I called greddy and asked if I could order one, the guy said "Call a greddy authorized dealer", then he hung up on me! Right now extremepsi is trying to get me that nipple.

hmmm I remember reading something about the 2nd nipple on the Type S and that it is only necessary to attach it to a vacuum source if you need to really the valve to open and close quickly (racing application). My brother has one on his 3000GT and we just left that nipple alone, he's had it for a while and we haven't had any problems with it.

The noise comes from the air filter, not the valve itself. That flutter can't be good. If I set the bov to soft it will blow off @ 5 psi and flutter above also. If I set it hard it flutters @ any level, it has to be that the valve isn't opening enough, it seems like surge. I read in another thread that it was normal, then someone else said it wasn't normal and it was surge. Extreme psi told me to adjust the spring. Greddy hung up on me, so I emailed them. I just don't want to kill the life of my new turbo if it is surge, it has less than 300miles on it.

My turbo XS Valve wouldn't flutter that that, it would let off unless I was running extremely low boost, like 3psi. I heard alot of people say it's normal, but I'm not so sure I can believe that, it just doesn't sound good for the car. That flutter isn't coming from the valve, it's coming out of my air filter because there air istrying to force itself back out, I think.

The RS has only one nipple.

i get the flutter when i build boost before the motor is fully warmed up yet...especially if its really cold out...i think its more so that that bov is cold and isnt used to opening and closing... so Tech9talon if you get the flutter while its cold out or ur car isnt warmed up yet id say its normal if u get it all the time id say just get a new bov...might as well get the type rs since ive heard nothing but good reviews about it...id probably get it if i had the money for it but good luck either way :thumb:

I get the flutter all the time, but I hope it's myfault and it just needs adjusted. I don't want to discourage anyone from buying from greddy. I have heard others complain of this probelm though.

I think you have it turned down too tight if it flutters all the time. My Type S will flutter under partial throttle or light boost, but anywhere above ~half to 75%+ throttle it will fully whistle and discharge. FWIW, I do not use the lower nipple.

I just went out and drove around adjusting it. I guess I shouldn't have adjusted it in the first place. It still flutters (surges) like you said, but response is deffinitly much better now.

On another note. I know there is a debate whether or not the flutter is surge. In my opininion it is surge, but I have only been around these cars for a year or 2. When I was under the hood adjusting the valve, I noticed that if you rev the motor enought to get the flutter noise, it most deffinitly doesn't come from the valve. The valve moves a fraction of an inch and whistles slightly. Then the noise comes from the air filter. To me it deffinitly seems like surge, but I'm no expert by far.

I just installed the RS to replace my type S. I have to say that this thing is just as big of a POS as the type s was. the flutter and compressor surge are is the same if not worse as the type s. I don't know why I bought another greddy after all the problems and fustration I had with the type S. I guess the wholesale price lured me in and the fact that i didn't have to change the mounting flange. I also live at a high elevation 7000ft, if that would make a difference. I have 16 in/hg at idle with no leaks. I think i am going to trade it in for a piston type (mabey apexi) in the future. As far as all of you that care about what it sounds, I think you should be more concerned about how the bov functions rather than sound.

I have this BOV as well, I really don't like it...Im running at 8psi and even have the hard spring out, still flutters. Any other BOV's fit the greddy flange?

Yup i still have the fluttering also, althought the sounds is a tad bit diffrent more of a open sounds than a mouse fart.

Anyone that has a fluttering RS should check it out with a vacuum pump or take it back to wherever you bought it and have them check it out. My original one fluttered very bad and it turn out to be defective. They gave me a replacement and with it set to full soft it easily opens at anything over 10in/hg. Makes an interesting valve pop noise too when it opens with no boost behind it. If mine opens any time I close the throttle, I don't see why anyones should flutter on boost, so have them checked. And don't forget to teflon tape the fittings.:thumb:

The only time my type S flutters is in fifth and low boost...2 to 6psi. I would assume it would have to be defective for the to flutter all the time. Lower nipple not connected and set to full soft. I had it set to medium and still no flutter.
