So my 2G is gone, and yesterday I picked up a 90 GSX 5 speed.
Drove it back home amm..300miles+, with no grind or problems.
This morning i slap a plate on the thing and head down to get it registered.
When I pulled in the parking lot..I got this weired noise comming from undernteath the car.
I come out..put it in R and i get that noise again...1st i was thinking my loose exhaust is hitting my driveshaft?nope..not really.
At the light, i put it in 1st, then shift in 2nd and at 30mph? the rear wheels lock up on me, and the car chocked/stalled in the middle of the road in rush hour! :)
Now the car has a rebuilt tranny(2 weeks ago with warranty), the clutch is brand new also.
So I start the car again...fired right up..it will go in all gears but it will choke/stall when i try to get going forward/reverse.
I checked the brakes...good..put the car in N and still can't move it in any directions.
The brakes are not the problem..the car tends to move half maybe 1 inch( well i can kidna spin the wheels a little, sort of a play).
Called the tow truck, and while he was loading her up on the flatbed, i noticed that the front wheels are spining, but not the back ones..
What would be the problem?? I can think of a seized Transfer Case or a Damaged Rear end?? It seems to me that the rear axels move a little and also the drive shaft, it's more like a play in them(half/1 inch when i move the rear wheel)..
Anyway I have it in a shop , and they said they'll call me tomorrow and let me know.
I found out some stuff abt a recall on the TC...is it still valid after the car got the TC damaged if this will be the case??
Any other suggestions?? Did I damaged the tranny or anything by trying to launch the car at 4500rpm??
What are the chances of a Rear End problem and chances of a TC problem!!
When I bought the car the TC seemed fine..and it had no moisture/oil deposits on it or around, and the car drove awesome for 300miles.
thx in advance

Quite likely the transfer case. As the links above will probably tell you, the dealership should cover the repairs.

You really shouldn't be launching a new car (to you anyway) with a new tranny and new clutch. Break it in, learn it's quirks, then launch it. :)

I own a talon 95 tsi awd, if my transfer case leaking, what dealer should I take to for repair, I never seen a eagle talon dealer.

If you were going to take your talon to a dealer you should go to a Chrysler dealership.

Humm...still I'm confused.
Why would the front wheels not lock up also??
Why only back ones??
When the Rear End goes bad...what are the sympthoms?? Like your rear axels are not moving at all or what??? I can rock my car back/forth but it won't move..I can see the rear axels/front are moving a bit when i rock it, so ebrake or brakes are out of the scene.
Most posts i read abt bad TCs are with all wheels locked up, or what?
I did a search and read all posts abt. locking wheels and TCs....i really hope is the TC because I called Mitsubishi Motors and my vin wasn't in the database, so they said they'll send me a recall notice paper, and I can go with that to the closest delarship and have it fixed!
In the same time , I need to be sure it's the TC, and not something else, because it would suck to drive/tow 100+miles to the dealership and find out that the TC is not bad :)
I'll drain all fluids and check them out for any metal shavings, gunk etc tomorrow.

When you park do you use the ebrake ? I have a 90 myself . Thought I had locked up something . Turns out the return spring on the ebrake was dirty as hell . We use quite a bit of salt here in Ky . You know how much they must use in Mich. I would spray a little PB blaster on those springs to see if it breaks loose . Maybe , maybe not . In any case take advantage of recalll if you can .

my friend has a 92 talon and his is at the dealership gettin his FREE transfer case put in..

yup, yup...took the driveshaft off...i could move the car...chk the TC for fuild? 0!! Not a single drop!:)
TC gone wild LOL...anyway i called Mitsubishi Motors USA, they called my closest dealer..180 miles away :D and they sent a faltbed to get my car :) SWEET
Aparently the TC recall was NEVER done on my GSX, so it was a no question asked kinda thing.
They said they'll deliver the car back at my house Monday at 12 pm :)
HUH!! That wasn't so bad after all :) ..damn only towing bill is like $250+
I'm a happy camper today ! :)
