I looking at eagle rods and JE pistons to put in my 6 bolt TSI. What is a good price on this set up?

Dont go with the JE's they have a lot of problems with expansion and have head people just getting bad pistons. JE has bead quality control. What I suggest is the Ross Forged Pistons, they are the best bang for your buck and some many high HP DSM's are using them. I got ROSS Forged with Eagle H-Beam rods from SBR for a little under $700 shipped last week, cant wait to install them will do a write up on how they stand up.

Thanks for the input. There is a local machine shop that builds nascar engines that swears by JE pistons. I think my fellow DSM builders know best though.

and with a stock car(nascar car) I would most likely bet that they pull the engine about every race to inspect the pistons. Anywho try to get onto NABR they have a lot in the archives that would help you.

i went to dsmotorsport for my eagle rods and paid 310 which i havent seen anywhere else. that was for their february sale though but last i checked it was still up.

I guess I should jump into this thread, too, since everyone here blew their motor. Me too. (sigh)

So what's the best price you guys have found for forged pistons? I used to have Wisecos. I liked them a lot, but I got them on sale and now I can't find them that cheap anymore. I might go with Ross since their price is also good. So far I found Ross pistons for $415 at Slowboy and Wiseco for $450 at a few places. Anything better? Thanks.

I really like what I read about the Ross' they are if not the most used pistons in DSM's and the price just helps even more.

damn, ross pistons with eagle rods for under 700, nice!! I dont have a doubt about the pistons. but what about the eagle rod? I had them on my 7 bolt and it rolled the rod bearings. Now i have a 6 bolt and im looking for a combo(rod, piston) that will hold 600hp.

Just a heads up, Ross just went through a price increase, once we are out of shelf stock the price will go back to $440.00 for Ross.

Eagle will hold 600 WHP, at about 630 WHP we did have an Eagle rod failure, so IMO use Pauter, Crower, GRP, or Manley when building a motor for 600 plus WHP.
