I just got 33 mpg on my last tank. Granted this was mostly highway driving (about 40 miles were around town) and i did not get on her but for on ramps and at a couple of lights (ran up to full boost: 20 psi). This is after installing a new set of rings.

I have FP2Xs, an 18G, DSMLink, and supporting fuel. I mentioned this to my buddy w/ a supercharged mustang and he just grew quiet as after much taunting, i pummeled him on a 20-120+ mph run (I don't condone road racing but I was weak and he kept badgering me).

My other mods are in my profile. So I just want to go on the record and say that hot cams don't necessarily drop your overall gas milage. More than likely, the cams wake up your engine so much that you want to run her harder. The tank before, I got 15 mpg :notgood: .

Proper tuning, and a not so heavy lead foot always gives good gas milage. It's when you want to have fun that it goes down. :dsm:

Thanks, good info. My daily driver is also a 90 Laser that I upgraded with '92 cams and I was worried about gas mileage. My best so far is 35.5mpg, I think the TRE 10% taller fifth gear helps. :)

Yea my 5th gear sucks compared to my other autombiles. 3000 rpms at 70 mph. My camry rins at like 2400 rpms in it's top gear at 70 mph. Sometimes I wonder if someone didn't swap the awd 5th gear into my fwd...

In my FWD, I would always see 18-20mpg. This was with Comp 200s and an 18g at 20 psi. It seems like I couldn't stay out of it long enough to actually check my gas mileage. :D

Um well if someone did swap in the AWD 5th gear into your FWD, you'd have a 10% taller 5th gear!

holy crap thats good mileage i get 180 miles on a TANK OF GAS. i mash though... but still thats terrible, my GS i got 24+ and i mashed that thing all day long

:notgood: dowt! I'm looking at the gear ratios in vfaq and you're absolutely right. I wonder why mitsu tech decided to go with a closer 5th on the fwd:confused:

Abit off topic but I was wondering what kind of lb/min you were seeing with your setup at 20 psi? So the fwd's have a smaller 5th then the awd's? What was the reason for the difference?

Before the cams: 38 lbs/min. I havn't logged lbs/min with DSMLink yet since then. I don't care what anyone says, the 18g is truely awesome. AND, it must be efficient at 20+ psi because i've been going up 1 psi every few days now and there is still 0 knock and i'm running 11:1 on pump gas w/ a sh!tty front mount (I do have water injection). I know I can get alot more out of this turbo. But, I have seroius traction issues. I spool to 20 psi by 3100 rpms.
