Good Clutch pressure but suddenly no disengagement

Been looking at a bunch of other posts trying to figure out what my problem is but I have to be missing something here.

I did a 6 bolt swap a quite a while ago but never drove it too much. Just got it running really well about 5 or 6 months ago and drive it to college. Haven't put too many miles on it but maybe 4 or 5000. Had a few problems here and there but nothing too major. And I haven't actually had to tear it apart in quite some time.

Driving home last night all of a sudden the clutch felt different when I pushed it in (but still plenty of pressure) and it was really hard to get into gear. I made it home because it was only a few miles but this morning I went to see what the problem was and the clutch will not disengage. Theres still plenty of pressure and I got under the car and had someone pump the clutch and the slave still is moving really well. I bled the slave but there was no air in the lines at all. And doesn't seem like I've lost any fluid at all.

It would seem like the clutch is just way out of adjustment but I don't understand what could possibly change that quickly and that far just all of a sudden. I was going to mess with the clutch assembly adjustment to see if I could get it to disengage but I wanted to get on here and make sure I'm not just totally missing something. It's been awhile since I've messed with my car and I don't want to make anything worse than it already is.

+1 Check out your bolts. I found out that happened to mine from the previous owner. Now I have nice cracks in my bellhousing from it. I'm just going to pick up another trans to rebuild.

If the clutch seems to be working but it just will not let go, it likely spit out a spring in the clutch disc. The spring get's wedged between the disc and the pressure plate/ f;ywheel. This is a common problem with some discs design. Tres....

theres a good chance falcon is right... ACT had/has a problem with this happening but im sure it happens to all sprung disc's

This happened to me because the bolts started backing out once, tightened them down, then couple miles later the clutch disc popped out a spring (bolts backing out warped the disc, cause a small crack) and it got lodged in between the disc/pp.

This was with an act. Similar thing happened on a stocker too.

It's not that funny. I've personally seen it happen to four seperate DSMs. Two of them completely destroyed the transmission case, and one cracked the engine block.

The popped out spring thing happens too, but being a DSM, my money is on the bolts falling out.

So what's the verdict on this thing anyway?

Sorry I forgot to post that my transmission bolts were fine, been kind of busy lately. Turned out the spring started to pop out of the clutch disk. I can take a picture if you guys want to see. So anyone happen to know what the chances of them giving me a new one? LOL, I doubt it's very good considering this is the clutch that was in the car when I bought it so I don't even have a receipt or anything. And it was a Spec stage 3 6-puck clutch case anyone was wondering.

This happened to a car i had bought, cracked the tabs on the block. Was a mess

Took some pics. Only thing I can think of is when I did my 6 bolt swap I didn't resurface the 6 bolt flywheel. Don't know if it could have helped this happened but at least it wasn't too bad getting the trans out. Hopefully it goes in as easy as it came out.

Yep, you blew a spring. I was wrong, but I'm glad you figured out the problem. Was that a new clutch when you did your swap? Unless the flywheel was causing chatter, then I doubt it was the culprit. Seems like lots of people have had issues with spring blowing out on aftermarket clutches. I would get a new clutch kit and surface the flywheel since you are down that far. Also, you may want to put a little grease on those splines. I have seen many splinned shafts fail because there was nothing to keep them from wearing. I wouldn't normally worry about it, but I see some rust has formed on the splines. That rust will quickly accelerate the wear to the spines. You don't want to smear grease on there, just a thin coat of some high temp grease that will help protect the metal and absorb any shock from the play in the splines.

SAME PROBLEMS! at least your hub stayed together i broke the hub off the clutch! fun huh? no! and as for belt housing bolts being loose but its called at TORQUE WRENCH! wow but anyways goodluck with the clutch
