bled my clutch, replaced my slave cyl and put in an extended slave cyl rod. I have adjusted the clutch travel per shop manual specs and my clutch fork still only moves about 1 1/2 to 2 inches. It doesnt even touch the other side of the fork opening. Next im going to adjust the master cyl rod that is on the back of the pedal. anything else it could be?

Is the clutch new? Check if the master cylinder is leaking by pulling back the rubber boot. Is the clutch fork and pivot ball new? These could also contribute to the problem. When you look at the clutch fork does it angle towards the driver side or passenger side? Scroll to the bottom of the following link and verify: RRE's Clutch And Flywheel Tech Info

yes the clutch is new. The clutch fork and pivot ball are not new though. they came with the transmission when i replaced it. I will check to see if the master cyl, is leaking.

i had this same problem last weekend. i replaced the slave and master and it would not bleed out with my friend pumping and me opening the bleeder. i found the threads on the bleeder for the slave were allowing air to reenter. i threw some teflon tape on and used a one man bleeder tool had the whole system bleed out in about 20 mins as opposed to an hour getting no where doing it the other way.

yeah, i could see that being a problem but i just replaced my slave cyl so i doubt thats the problem. Im about to replace the master cyl and put a SS line on. Just to eliminate all possibilities.

ok, so i spent like 5 hours outside today working on the eclipse. I have now replaced the slave cylinder and put an extended rod on it, put a SS clutch line and eliminated the FCU, replaced the master cylinder and bled the whole system like 5 times and i am still have problems with the clutch disengaging. When i press the clutch in there is a squeaking noise sounding like its coming from the bell housing. It sounds like somebody stepping on an old wooden floor.

Did you try adjusting the rod on the back of the clutch master cylinder yet? You probably did when you changed it out but I just wanted to make sure. That adjustment rod under the dash made a big difference for me.

Did you have the flywheel resurfaced when you did the clutch? Did you check the step height to be sure the machine shop didn't screw it up? Flywheel Step info - RRE

I just swapped my tranny and installed a new fork/pivot ball and shimmed the pivot ball with a brass crush washer. I can't see why you would need to do this, especially with the extended slave rod, but it's another option. Keep us updated.

well im afraid that the shop i had resurface my flywheel did not cut the right step height. I am going to call exedy tomorrow and see what the right height should be for their clutches then call the machine shop and ask what he cut it to. good call red97rum. thanks for the help

well exedy said it should be cut to the manufacturer step height. and the guy who cut it said thats what he cut it to. Is there any possibility that i put something in backwards when i put the clutch assembly back in? like put the clutch in backwards or put the TO bearing in backwards?

If you put the clutch in backwards yes that would be your problem, Also you pulled the flywheel off. I had done a motor swap and put all my stuff back together and drove it for like 3 miles than the clutch would not disengage. So after doing a new clutch master/slave and all that I realized my problem was in the transmission. Turned out one of my flywheel bolts backed out and was blocking the clutch from being able to move in or out. TOB could be in wrong and that would cause a problem too. Maybe the TOB's little clip that holds it in place fell off. Now that you have done all the right steps to replacing the outter parts that go the transmission, it's time to get back in the inside to figure it out

yeah those are all true, but i did torque the flywheel bolts to manual specs so i doubt thats it. I think i have found the problem. Its kind of hard to explain over the computer but basically my clutch fork is not pivoting on the ball anymore. Its just kinda riding freely on the TOB. I think the clip on the back of the fork that holds it to the pivot ball broke, or is just worn down. Im going to replace the fork and ball and i'll write back to say weather that fixed it or not.

alright so today i pulled my transmission out and found the clip on the back of the fork broken in half... it may be from just plain wear and tear but if not then what do you think it could be? I am only using a stage 1 clutch. Its the exedy 05800 model, holds up to 350HP. Is a factory fork still ok for that clutch?

I also found that the squeaking noise was coming from the pressure plate. I have heard that is not a problem.

well it turns out that it was the fork. Today i tested everything and it seems good to go! thanks for the help guys.
