Eagle Talon TSI Turbo - $2200

1990 Eagle Talon TSI, Turbo; black; 5-speed manual transmission; all wheel drive, body style: hatchback 2 dr.; engine type: 2.0L L4 MPI DOHC TRBO; 4-cylinder; low mileage of 91,xxx miles; cruise control; power windows; tires, spare tire, and interior in good condition; accessories: CD player and AM/FM radio, alarm, automatic seat belts; dent near left front wheel (see photo); air conditioning needs repair; smog checked: 9/03.
Am selling because I am moving away. Serious buyers only pls.

(three pictures, the hood is a little oxydized but the rims and paint on the rest of the body looks good. cant tell if thats a dent on the drivers side fender or not, but it looks like its just how the fenders are made and the angle of the photo. o nvm just reread add, says theres a dent there.)

would this be a good buy for a newb to this platform? does this car need a 60k or anything else? I know a little about 3000gts and stealths so if there are similarities i can deal with that kinda stuff, although ive never owned one, ive been in the engine bay of a few and looked around for a long while. (this would be my first car and im 16 1/2) :talon:

it cost her 400, it was the o2 sensor, but also the cat too, and that big thing on the hood feels like some really really old sap or something....the dent on the side is really big, but its just the fender, ill probably get that replaced sometime later....its a lot bigger than i would have thought, even though ive seen some on the road, they always seem smaller....(i was looking at the interior and i found a spider,....and i killed it...hehehheheh...) its raining and i dont feel like learning to drive a stick tonight, that and my sister invited some friends over to block my car in and watch tv cuz they are stupid, but i did ride in it before the woman left.... cant wait to start driving it...

I'm about to be 19 next week and I'm dying to get my 90-91 GSX/TSi. Looks like you got a great deal on that, I hope I have that much luck before summer arrives. GL with everything and go eat some Civics once you're comfortable. :thumb: :dsm: :talon: :laser:

key words there, once im comfortable....its so annoying going from being able to drive atxs so easily to not being able to bring your car into the garage...... but im sure that once im comfortable it will all come as easy as the atx mini van ive been riding in this past year or so.... :talon:

Also Have a mechanic do a compression test, and a leak down test, to find out what the condition of the motor is. Then change the tranny fluid to Pennzoil schynomesh, and the transfer case and rear differential fluid to MTL Redline Shock proof. Just my advice from owning a few of them in the past couple years.

thanks, i drove it today for a while and i only stalled it a few times, but the clutch feels really really low, i have to have the seat so close to the clutch that my knee on my right leg is touching the steering collum,.... im going to try and get that changed tomorrow, but i have to find a good place to take it to. anyone in the bay area know of a good mechanic (east bay preferably)? after driving it i spent the rest of today cleaning out the garage and finally got my car to fit,...with about an inch in the front and 3 in the back....but my mom wants to make some good will runs so soon i wont have any problem getting it in. last question, does anyone know of a good product to get rid of stickers/ addhesive deposite from stickers? (she has a lot of parking permit stickers on there,....) thanks for all the help you guys... :talon:

Welcome and hope you have a job....! J/K well my Laser is almost back up all the parts should be in the mail. I checked the classifieds today and damn if i didn't run into my car's younger sister!! The dude selling it bought it for his brother in law but the guy doen't know how to put it back together. They bought it with a snapped timing belt and bent valves. they bought all the stuff including the head, mounted the head bolted it down and have no clue as how to put the timing back and all the vaccum lines. hes fed up it taking up room in the garage and won't pay a machanic to fix, we all know labor on these things is an arm and a leg!!. anyway its a '93 Turbo Laser, listed for $500 buck but when i called he said $300!!! Hell yea. hopefully noone beats me to it!. he said interior is perfect exterior the paint is shot...wow right.

thanks, has anyone tried ajusting their clutch "height" in these cars before, and is it easy? (i doubt it but worth a shot...)

Yup. I did had to do it on my current one when I got it. I drove it to my garage, jacked it up for an oil change, changed the oil jacked it down, and walaa......no clutch?  :|

So I adjusted the clutch from where the master cylinder rod comes through fire wall, and attachs to the pedal tree. Its a pain the first couple of times, its tight as hell under the dash. Although Im not the smallest guy either 6'1 240lbs, but do it a couple of times and you can just reach under there with some pliers and a open-end wrench and just do it. Also being a 90 we don't have that metal box with the spring on the pedal tree like 91's+ do. Just don't unscrew the rod to much or else it will fall out of the pedal tree, its a pain in the ass if that happens. :thumb:

Also its not really the height that I adjusted, its more the play inbetween engagement and disengagement. After I adjusted it, I can launch the car so easy since theres a lot of room between fullly engaged and fully disengeged.

Paul over at Newlogics in Richmond has a good rep. You can probably find his info through searching.
