ok so i moved to milwaukee and i cant take the broken a$$ roads anymore with my lowered car. Well i bought it lowered so i dont really know how it was all in stalled, but my question is, if i want it back to stock suspension, do i just have to get STOCK shocks and struts? and it will be ok?

Lowered cars are usually done with springs. Get OEM springs. Do you know what brand the shocks are? There are some people out there that want handling with out the lowered car so they'll upgrade their suspension without getting springs to lower car.

i dont know if they were changed when the guy lowered the car

Rough pot holed roads are hard on wheels when running low profile tires.

My new 98 TSI had three bent 17" wheels by the time the OE tires wore out.

I changed to 16" wheels with 225/50/16 tires and have no more bent wheels after 150,000 more miles on the same roads.

does the 99 gsx have different springs than the others?

also, i think something is wrong with the struts or something in the suspension, but when i go over bumps the suspension area kinda squeaks-clicks sound....also when im driving, say in 4rd gear goin 30-35 and let my foot off the gas (while still in gear) the car makes this weird metal vibrating or grinding or ratteling, idk exactly but it does it, what could this be?

4rd gear?? LOL

.....will i know 100% if my struts are broken or not by just driving? and if these struts have been changed to accommodate to the lowered springs, and i put stock springs on, will it be ok?

The wonderful roads in milwaukee, my car would never make it down there.

How long have you have that suspension set-up on your car?
How much is the car lowered? What kind of springs?
KYB shocks are really not meant to be used on a lowered car, so yes you could have a blown strut.

I would check your struts first to make sure there good, start with this then report back.

I agree with boost92. Kyb gr-2 arn't meant to be used in conjunction with a lowering spring. They ride like shit. I also concur with checking the condition of all your struts now, if they are fine throw some stock springs back on them if you want.

I bought the car lowered....so i dont know how long.

I believe it's 2inches. Eibach springs. Dont know anymore than that about the setup.

How do i check for a blown strut? what am i looking for when i look at the struts?

I think kottyking is right check your struts if they are good throw stock springs on them. and for your 4th gear problem check if the oil is at the right spot to start with.

well if your having the same problem i did with the kyb and lowering springs (they were purple not sure what brand) the strut is actually bottoming out causing a loud noise and lots of bounce. so your options are to get factory springs or buy coilovers. i went with coilovers and is still the best investment i made!

check for oil on the struts and if one is softer than the others.
