Would it be better to put one of these MAF's on my intercooler pipe and vent the BOV to the atmosphere and run a KN air filter directly off of the turbo with no intake pipe? Or would it be best to put the MAF on an intake to the turbo and vent my BOV into the intake pipe? What are the pros and cons of each?

My car set up is: I have a 1991 talon tsi AWD with nology hot wires, ngk plugs, greddy type S BOV vented back into a intake pipe, 2" intercooler piping to a 24"x9"x3" FMIC, 2G 2" throttle body elbow and J-pipe, 3" downpipe and an HKS cat back.

Blow-through has the advantage of being drivable with huge boost leaks (such as a blown coupler). There is some speculation that recirculating the BOV helps keep the turbo spooled between shifts but I don't know that this has ever been tested. Another concern is that if you are venting a 1g BOV, you will be drawing in unfiltered air when the intake is under vacuum.

spool time is also decreased with a blow-thru setup. Mine spools to almost full boost in 1000rpm's. And I believe the bov stay's open a little bit under vaccum like the last post said...I have a greddy type-s and it opens even if I tap the throttle.

If you aren't going to use the blow through and you aren't making huge hp then just stick with a 2g maf. The blow through setup for the gm maf is very nice though and has some useful features. I also wouldn't suggest putting th filter on the turbo just because it would be sucking up very hot air and most intake pipes aren't much of a restriction anyway.

Does the wiring only involve the old MAF harness or also the ECU?

And what filter would be the best for a blow through set up? I was thinking KN or Injen??
