GM MAF actually do anything?

is there any benefit to having a gm maf on a dsm? i ask because i have a 2000 grand am which basically just sits parked unless my dsm is in the shop and i would just grab my maf off that .

Benefits: Flows more, you can use it in a blow-throw set up, some say you have a better throttle respond (I never felt it myself), cleaner look
But: You need a tuning device being DSMLink, a MafT, etc, tune can be a pain and they get affected by weather changes.
