What do you use them for? What are the benefits? I can't seem to find any info on them.

This is the manifold differential pressure sensor, also sometimes incorrectly referred to as a manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor.
The MDP sensor measures the amount of vacuum in the intake manifold. It does not do this to measure the amount of air entering the engine. The MDP sensor measurement is instead used to monitor that the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) emissions control system is working correctly. 1G cars used a temperature probe for this, while 2G cars use the MDP sensor.
It is true that the non-turbo 2G cars have a MAP sensor, not a MDP sensor. It is not certain that it does the same job, although it might.
So how does it connect to say like DSMLink for logging? We have an MAP sensor on our cars as well right? Why not use that?
After reading the wiki, it seems DSMLink supports the AVCR as a boost pressure sensor as well.

Since I have the AVCR, does that mean I can hook it up to DSMLink to log boost making the GM Bar sensor obsolete?
