ok, i honestly have no clue why, but my car isnt starting again. since the last time it started up, i have done absolutley nothing to it. so i redo adjusting the crank angle snesor by putting piston 1 is at TDC on compression stroke and lining up the notches on the crank sensor and putting that on. i hope thats the right way, at least thats what the program at my school says and thats what VFAQ says. so i have that all bolted up correctly, ALL of my wires are on properly, nothing is messed up. the car really wants to start, but it doesnt. i NEED this car done by friday, no exceptions, since thats the last day of my vo tech. i need EVERY suggestion thrown at me. what do all you guys think?

my friend had a similar problem and he told me later that he had an ecu with blown caps so it wouldnt start and when he got the new ecu it still wouldnt start cause when he was cranking his motor the cylinders flooded with gas, so he got it all cleared out and it turned over. just a suggestion.

Why do you think it was your CAS? Start big, checking your fuel and spark are obvious, but you probably already did that. Could be the ECU, as they are notorious for leaking after sitting for a little while. Pop it out and smell it, and report back after you have done all three :thumb:

ive checks fuel and spark, i got both of them. i thought it was the CAS because when he was cranking it and when i turned the CAS at the same time, it wanted to start even more, but it didnt. where would i find the ecu on my car? and if it is the caps how much would it cost to repair it if possible? i dont wanna buy a new one, they are too expensive

if you think it's the cas, then replace the cas

if that doesnt work, take of the panel next to the stereo on the driver's side foot well... down in that area. the ecu is in a little cradle behind the stereo. take it out, take off the cover, and if you see some crap that looks like little trash cans that someone chucked an m80 into, then you got blown caps. take a picture of what you find.

ok, the first thing i did at vo tech today was take the ecu out and check out the caps. it was all good. so i put it back in. when i tried to start it it wouldnt start, so i put some oil in each cylinder to raise the compression a bit, and it ALMOST started, so i rotated the cas while it was cranking and it started! it smoked for about 5 minutes but then it stopped. i let it idle for almost 10 minutes and the lifters still didnt have oil pressure in them, and my oil pressure gauge read normal, so how long will it take for them to fill up?

shouldnt take 10 minutes for them to fill. how can you tell they didnt have pressure? was it cause they were ticking? if so, welcome to owning a dsm.

also, did you replace the cas yet? sounds like it might be partially a bad cas and partially something else dropping the compression.

no, i didnt replace the cas. i know they havent filled up yet because of the immensly loud ticking. trust me, its not the normal ticking they make, ive owned this eclipse for two years now, i know what that sounds like. this ticking is more like hell is comming.
