Ok my turbo is blown, so I figured why not just upgrade. I'm getting an Evo III 16G and 2G install kit. Now I've been reading and hearing alot about boost creep. And its kinda getting me worried. I have a 97 GST AT. Now in order to get this set up working, what exactly do I need? So far it’s only got free mods, and K&N filter. I have the EVO IIII 16G and kit coming, as well as a 1g BOV. Other than that the car is stock. Will I have problems just installing the 16G, or is there something I need to have or do b4 I install it. Thanks, if all goes well my 2G Talon Tsi is getting the same treatment.

If your worried about creep you need a boost controller (controls boost, duh!), and with a bigger turbo deffinately a Boost guage. (actually that should be the first thing you put on any turbo car.) The guage is your first creep warning. Also a bigger turbo = more fuel used. Therefore if you can afford it prob a new fuel pump, or at least do the rewire of the stock one on www.vfaq.com. If not you'll need to use the boost controller to keep yourself from running too much boost, otherwise you'll have problems. The 16g should be a big improvement for your car though. (by that I mean OWNAGE have fun!)

I dont know if I am correct in this assumption but if you own an auto shouldn't you maybe research in a T28 maybe? the reason being is that a T28 spools more in the low end than a Evo 16g... from what I heard...

Now being an automatic I don't know if you could tap the full potential of the Evo 16g.... maybe someone else could answer this for you. But just giving you another option....

well good luck have fun and drive safe.

if you have an AT I would seriously consider a BIGT28 because of the spool up characteristics. Plus its a direct bolt on and you don't have to worry about the 2g kit.

You shouldn't have to worry about creep much with your stock exhaust. However, your car will never be as fast as it could be with an aftermarket exhaust. Either turbo you pick EVO 16g or Big 28 will both be a great improvement over stock. :thumb:

I recommend getting a evo16g just because of how fast a t28 spools and if you do alot of from a stop racing it may spool pretty quick and give you a nice "smokey" effect. If you got the cash for the install kit I say get the evo but if you don't then I say honestly pickup the t28 because it drops in just like factory and retains that look also.
:)

Ok the reason I was going with the 16G was because I was offered a good deal. But how much does a Big 28 run? And I know being AT hurt a bit but this isnt my car, this is my GF's and she races ppl once in a while. My talon Tsi will be getting a 20G later down the road. Aside from that, I got the Boost gauge coming and boost controller. If I decide to go with the 16G is it necessary to do the fuel pump thing?

Either turbo you should get a fuel pump, than you may boost around 16-17 psi on stock injectors. Otherwise you'll have to keep the boost around 12, and I don't know how good that 16g is going to act at 12psi (your worried about boost creep)

Go with the Evo all the way. I have one. As for spoolup...... I bought the Big T-28 Killer and sent it back after 3 weeks and bought the Evo III 16G. The Evo spools the same as the T28 roughly around 3100 rpms. Soo fast. Its alot more power for sure. Let me give you numbers as per what I logged with the 3 turbos I've had. At around 15 psi on the 3 turbos, I got this on the logger.
T-25----22lbs/min
T-28Killer 25lbs/min
Evo III 16G 28lbs/min

The T-28 is said to spool up at 2800-3000 so for FWD that might be too fast for you to have traction. Now with Boost creep, I was worried about that too. I ported out the turbine housing and my O2 housing and have zero boost creep. I also put a boost source on the Evo's compressor housing. Rock solid precise boost every time. The best thread on this issue in my opinion (Which actually worked) is this.....http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=99090&highlight=boost+creep
AS for fuel, it primarily depends on your octane. Every car is different but if you are at 91 octane, 12- 14 would be safe and higher octane (93)you can go up to 15-16 psi. Both of these is with the rewire of the stock fuel pump. Just remember that at the same boost with any turbo, depending on the turbo you will be flowing more air than another (As I showed above) I am noticing that at 15 psi on 91 octane, I knock (Timing gets pulled) To get rid of the pulling timing I found that I had to add fuel with the SAFC II. Having it at .94v was terrible. .98V was a bit better but its too rich. Thats just my experience for my particular car. Even with just 10-11 psi (Wastegate actuator spring pressure)on the EVO III 16G, you WILL notice that its faster than the T-25.

I know that the 1g automatics came with smaller injectors than the manual trans 1g's, but is it the same with 2g's? Would he still be able to run 16 psi on just a fuel pump with less than 450cc injectors????
