Getting a feel for a bumper mod.

Mine only takes five mins to take off without having pins in the side of my bumper.

This is the best bumper mod I did, in fact several other people liked it so much they asked me to make it for them too!:p Nothing like removing the bumper cover in 5min.

Do you have a build thread on how to do this??

i like it. but don't just cut a square out, make sure you actually fold some of the plastic over.

It looks alright at a glance, but not when you actually stare at it for a few moments and realize it's someone's handy work. To each their own I guess. I'm sure I've done mods not everyone likes yet I do. If you do it, make sure you do do it right with folding the edges like it's been said a few times already. :hmm:

Not bad, but how does that effect the structural integrity of the bumper?

Ok, been awhile. That pic isn't the one I saw but that looks good.

1. Yea, square doesn't equal circle. All it takes is to nit make the cuts so sharp; have them rounded more.

2. Pics don't look big to me, maybe they didn't resize for you.

3. The eyelids are custom. Made out of some vinyl from a graphics shop for $5. There is an eyelid thread in here that has info in it.

I would like to test run it on an extra bumper but making the fold on the inside will be hard.

And my IC is barely crooked. Probably from the bad drive ways around here. I made sure it was straight when I put it on.

The "fold" would not be hard at all. You arnt folding the urethane. Cutout the hole, thann make the inside separately and affix the whole piece to the cutout usig a resin blend. If that makes sense. Its not hard..ive made plenty of vents before...just time consuming.

He's using Dzus Fasteners. Aircraft use them a lot for cowlings.

Instilation is not difficult, just annoying. Essentially there are two parts to them. One part you drill into where it attatches, rivet or screw the receiver plate in, cut and screw/rivet the fastener to bumper. They only need a quarter turn to pull the part free.

^^ thats what i was thinking cut the slot and bend it in then put a pice of foam wrapped in clear packing tape into the slot and then fiber glass around it. remove the foam then more fiberglass or bondo to even it all out. i think the red one looks great and i have thought about it but its the kinda thing where once its do its done. could be a cool inlet for your turbo too instead of the headlight thing... eventhough the headlight mod is BA LOL

goodluck tho :hellyeah:

Understandable, I did this mainly because I was sick of poping the turn signal housings out to get to the bolts, and stripping the little plastic fasteners in the fender wells. I take my front cover off alot so this made it easy for me. Its not for everyone.

I go behind my bumper. It never occured to me to go through the turn signal housing.

The black car looks photoshopped...
And the bumper mod isn't clean, like mentioned it only takes 5 minutes if that to remove my bumper , even if on the side of the road like I've had to do. With the bolts in oe locations.

Theirs no need to remove the turn signals to get them out. Even then they take a whole 10 seconds to pop out.
