hey everyone. question for the ones with wisdom...

i have a 98 GS-T and heres the prob...

my car seems to drive fine but my gears seem hard to get into.
when i need to put into 1st sometimes it wont go in. i usually have to
shift to 2nd THEN 1st. reverse needs 2nd THEN 1st THEN reverse.
clutch pedal seems fine and my clutch slips a bit.

now trannys i dont know much about but could it be the clutch?
also my clutch fluid is good, not leaking. for the most part i dont
see leaking.

any ideas? im thinking its the clutch but dont know.
i am in the market to buy an ACT 2600.

thanks all.

I recently have had the same problem. I can shift into gear, but often times when shifting into first I have to jam it into place and I'll hear a grinding. The transmission was rebuilt in September and I also had a clutch kit put in. I picked the car up yesterday from a tuner shop, thought they would fix the problem. They installed a new clutch slave cylinder and flushed the fluid. Still doing the same thing. I ordered new under hood linkage bushings, hope these will help. Also I was reading another forum and it said to adjust the master cylinder so the pedal responds differently(not to clear). Any other ideas?

I have the same experience. I think most people have it, to some extent. I don't think it's necessarily a sign that your tranny is going bad.

Try a different tranny fluid. I tried a few and found that some make it worse/better than others.

I am haven the same problem? i think mine is coming from my motor mounts there bad?? and i heard that when your motor mounts are going bad? that the tranny starts to wear! and when the motor is moved in a certaion spot? it will grind first gear? and some other times it goes in hard? i have a ACT Clutch and its not the clutch that isg oing bad? and i just changed my Clutch master Cyl. (CMC) and it was working fine for a while and i did bleed the system many times! and i still get grinding in first?> and i think its my tranny but my tranny is good i am a good driver and never treat my car like a bucket! well good luck and i let yo now if i fix my problem! get them dsm CLEAN!! :thumb:  :|

i think thats the most questions ive seen in one post ever

i have a hard time shifting to 2nd, it doesnt grind, it just has alot of resistance going in, and reverse is really hard to get into sometimes, sometimes its like its not even there, i got the underhood brass replacements for the ends of the cables, and the metal bushings to go on the shifter base along with a short shifter, im going to put everything in and see how it effects things.

i find sometimes when youre stopped at a light and try to go into 1st, it doesnt want to go in. i figured out to let the clutch out(put the stick between 1st and 2nd, i have no spring to make it jump to the middle anymore) and put the clutch back in again, and it goes in fine. try that.

i used to have the same problem - rebuilding the slave helped. Once i got it back from TRE, i haven't had to do the 2nd to 1st manuver. But i think it's more a DSM thing.. because i know i had to shift like that for years before the transission actually showed signs of going out.
