Get an Evo III turbo manifold or just port the 2g one?

I'm planning on either getting the Evo III turbo manifold or porting my existing 2g turbo manifold. What's the better choice?
And if I was to port the 2g turbo manifold what gaskets would I need to get?(obviously not the factory ones since the manifold has been ported and the inlets are bigger)

Well that would depend on what other mods you have. Since your vehicle description isn't filled out its hard to say.

But as a general guideline, I'd say unless you have upgraded the rest of your exhaust you'll be better off spending your money on that and just porting the 2g manifold.

It really depends on what other performance mods you want to make and where the biggest gain for your money is.

I don't have the 16g on right now. When I put it on I'll put a ported o2 housing and ported manifold or EVO III on as well.

Currently I only have a 2.5"-3" downpipe and intake on.

Since you've already got a free-flowing exhaust then the evo 3 manifold is probably worth getting. You might also consider getting the evo 3 O2 housing if it is within your budget to do so.

If I was to get the EVO III o2 housing I'd have to get another downpipe or modify my current one so it ould properly fit. I'd rather just keep my current downpipe the way it is.

IF you not porting, skip the EVO3 and get SBR its runners are larger unported then the EVO3 ported. GO with SBR EXHAUST MANI

www.122performance.com sells an o2 housing that is the same size as an ported evo o2 housing but is angled correctly for 2G downpipes. They sell for around $200.

I know about a couple of 2g ported o2's that are selling for around $50. Is it a good idea to get one of these instead? There's a huge difference between $50 and $200. I'd rather pay less for an item that will perform as well then a more costly item.

the evo3 would be bigger, but if your not willing to spend the extra 150 (i hear ya man,... money dont grow on trees...) im sure a ported 2g would do fine,....where do you plan on going in life? also another good thing about buying used... if you find the 2g isnt good enough, you can sell it for pretty close to 50 bucks...make back all you spent, and buy an evo3...

If all you're after is a ported 2g, unless yours is cracked port it. I ported by manifold/turbo with a variable speed (22000 rpm max) dremmel and some specialty bits followed by some sanding. Or just take it to a machine shop.

I'll probably just get a 2g ported o2 for now and just like tstkl said, if I was to switch to an EVO III later on I would be able to sell the 2g one for as much as I bought it for. So it's a win, win situation.

The 2g is the best of the dsm manifolds, The evo three flows better and has a larger colector to match the 16g turbos.

Any reason WHY you revived a 5+ year-old thread to add such insightful information? I'm sure you're already aware than the 2G manifold and Evo III manifold are identical aside from the Evo III manifold having a larger collector. Inherently, a ported 2G manifold and an Evo III manifold are the same thing.
