Yes...you read it right! I threw myself away from buying those expensive front lips and instead joined the crowd with the home depot lip kit ;).

Install only took less than 45 mins and only needed the "lip", washers, self tapping screws and some double sided ultra tacky tape. Oh and a razor blade to neaten things up!

Defiantly worth the $15 from the local home depot. Now I must make a mesh grill. hmm....

Doesn't look half bad at all. Will see how it lasts with daily driving!

Cheers.

You'll get better at putting it on straight, too. I managed to keep one on for about a 50 days before it met it's destruction. I experimented with painted/plastidipping it with interesting results.
Don't use clear, it will turn into what looks like cob webs. Clear isn't flexy enough. Plastidip worked great to smooth it out when it got tattered or torn or snagged etc. but it was challenging to apply it to the lip while on the car.

What I really want is that inter-lok crap you use as garden siding. They only sell 4 ft' lengths on the west coast and they will not ship you shit from the east coast. The east coast HD's have 7' lengths of this stuff and it'd be a really good, and more permanent solution.

EDIT: Almost forgot. There are different grades or "runs" of this garage door material. I've purchased 3 satchels so far and 2 have been quite thick with good stiffness while the other bag was more like a wet noodle, barely holding it's shape. So, when you're cruising around for the supplies, make sure to give it the avocado test, too.

Nice! Thanks! about to go make my HD lip!

How well does it hold up?

So far so good! It's only been on there for about 6 hours and just a few hours of driving - if that. I'll keep ya posted.

haha how did you end up destroying yours?

and hmm...if you could get a picture/link of what this garden siding stuff you speak of, maybe I can ship you some. If ya want it bad enough ;).

I'll look around. There's a guy on Tuners that introduced me to it.

My lips all met their end by some terrible happening such as a dip in the road, or my personal favorite, when you have a 200lbs passenger you're not used to driving with. You'd be surprised how your normal path that avoids scrapes can all of a sudden become a bodywork nightmare just from not "knowing" the car well enough when it's got a heavy-ass passenger. Driving 40 miles mixed city/highway is also quite shameful when you're practically towing what's left of that lip back home. LOL

EDIT: Diamond-Lok 2-1/2 in. x 6 ft. Plastic Paver Edging-DLLF6-50 at The Home Depot This doesn't appear to be the exact product, but it was a Diamond-Lok part. 6 ft. is still too short.

Anyone have a HD lip on a 2gb talon bumper? I am curious to see what it looks like. Would a lip even look good?
