Sending unit possibly. Or the guage itself.
What are the common reasons that a gas gauge wont read less then 1/8 tank
.My gas gauge will either turn on the low fuel light with the gauge reading 1/4 tank, or it wont turn on till about 1/8 of an inch below the empty line. Its a very inaccurate set up. I just use my trip odometer to make sure i don't run out.
The dent in the tank makes perfect sense, i would hate to know what would have caused such a dent. Besides that, there must be some kind of sending unit failure either mechanical of electrical. Which isnt a helpful statement at all,.
