In the garage, South America
how can you tell if its vr4? All the stamps are grinded off. Bought from private seller down here???

Galant transmission is LSD right?

Youll have to run the trany through each gear and count the rotation to figure out he final ratio numbers to tell if it is or not.

If it is a jdm vr4 trans you can tell on the t case and tranny will be a bolt and lever allowing you to switch your awd to front drive.

Searching would find this, or you dont know how to?

is it the tranny that is seleactable or the transfer case? I always wander this i think it would be cool to get one but there super hard to find. Also how do they switch? In cabin switch or what?

Just because its a jdm trans does not automatically mean its a switchable tranny and xcase. The fact is the switchable ones are not that common.

Yeah you need the bolt on both the tranny and transfer case. The switchable jdm tranny and transfer case are clearly discussed in the vfaq. The vr4 tranny will bolt up to a 1g but for the 90 you will need the shifter cables, base, ans shifter. I heard something about the some of the jdm trannys might come from the jdm vr4 rs, and if that is the case, you are have to swap some internals of the tranny with your usdm tranny. But to double check, just get the car in the air and spin the front tires and make sure the back ones make the same amount of rotations.
