Galant/2kGTX owners, little help please

OK, so I have a 91 Eagle 2kGTX(Galant twin) awd 5spd, DOHC 4g63, daily driver. Still have the TSi.

I know its N/T and I am fine with that, it gets way better mileage and runs on 87 octane.

I want to know, if I am sourcing parts, can I use 1g awd parts? Or 1g N/T parts? Or do I have to find Galant/2kGTX parts?

I am specifically asking about header, sway bars and springs, but I also want to know what I need to convert to 5bolt hubs and TSi brakes.

and any other tid-bits that might be floating around?

I've been over to Gvr4 dot org, but its mainly for turbo cars. As well, I think you have to sign up to even read most of the forum?

its called an Eagle 2000 GTX. Comes with either sohc or dohc 4g63, 4spd auto or 5spd manual and either fwd or awd.

Comes with tons of options, including changable colour gauge cluster

Its a twin of the Galant, and availiable in Canada. I didn't know they weren't availiable in the US.

So, any info on simple mods, things that need to be done etc?

I know about DSM's I own a 12sec pump gas 14b car and have had it for 4 years or more, but I am new to the n/t thing and the Galant/GTX platform in general.

Find out what the chassis code is and I can tell you what parts will fit. It's usually stamped on the firewall to the right of the wiper motor, something like E38a or E33a, is what you're looking for. It's probably going to be E38a, in which case it would be the same as a Galant GSX.

Dont know how much help this is going to be but I'll give it a shot. On my GVR4 the springs from my 1g awd tsi fit. However it seems to be a common problem that the rear sits lower than the front when you do this. Word is 2g hats will correct this though. I personally havent tried it yet, but Im going to soon. Also I would imagine the header is the same. I was able to put a 2g mani on mine. Hope that gave some help. Good luck!

Eagle 2000GTX is the equivalent of the Galant GSX (chasis code E38A).

For engine parts:
Most 1G N/T (2.0) parts will fit, including headers, cams, etc. 1G AWD exhausts work as well, though you would need to extend it by 6" at the catalytic converter due to the GTX's longer wheelbase.

For suspension parts:
Aftermarket sway bars, springs, and shocks all will work on your GTX. 1G springs will bolt up as well, and as an added bonus, these actually lower the car by an inch or so (on the other side, aftermarket 1G springs might lower the car too much, so if you go with aftermarket springs, whatever their drop rate is, add an inch to it to determine how much of a drop you'll get with your car). There was a recent discussion about using 1G springs on the Galant board, and most people were in agreement that 1G springs with aftermarket shocks work well. There's also a few people who have been experimenting with using the suspension pieces from Evo8's, but that's a bit more work to install.

Drivetrain parts:
The 2000GTX/G-GSX transmission is not the same as the 1G or G-VR4's transmission. The final drive ratios for both the transmission and the rear end are different. I wasn't sure if a five-lug conversion can be done, but we do have one member who had a Galant GS-X that pulled off this conversion. If you register with the galant forum, look for SGTDave.

Even though Galantvr4.org is geared mainly towards the Galant VR-4, we have a few members who have Galant GSX's, and even a few Galant GS's as well. Those folks are great people who are more than willing to help you out, so don't be afraid to sign up.

OK, there is an aluminum plaque riveted to the middle of the firewall near the top. It has a Mitsu emblem in black paint then some codes.

Wendy, thanx. I am fine with the rear at the level it is, just the front is fugly. I will try to locate a set of 1g TSi front springs. Should I use a fwd or awd? Or does it matter?

I do race at MRP, but not in the GTX, I don't really see the point in that Its a 16 second car at best. I run my 91 TSi AWD Talon over there. With the cams I just put in and some weight reduction, I hope for mid 12's.

Quasimondo, thanx to you as well. So, I just use an N/T DSM header? I know it will fit the head, but will it fit the stock exhaust so I can drive to the exhaust shop? Or do I have to run open header on public roads?

For brakes and wheels, I guess 4 lug is fine, I just want to be able to put 2 piston calipers on it later on. Or is this not really possible? What do we use for cheap brake upgrades?

You say all those aftermarket parts fit, but do I order parts for a 1g AWD or FWD? Or N/T?
