I was just checking your mod list and noticed the 66 with a 2332, YEHAWW a bugger :thumb: ! I'm jumping up and down in my seat right now! I used to build and play with these! Are you familiar with SCORE? Are they around anymore? Have you run the 2.3?

But I digress. Everytime you go to the track you stand a chance of snapping axles (especially FWD). That's why when many people go they bring axles with them. It's something you can do at the track. Are you going to stand a better chance of snapping an axle with drag radials? Yeah, a little bit, because they grab better. But I'm guessing from your mods that you aren't pushing so much power that it is a likely event. If I was you, I would go with the drag radials.

But again, I'm not you and you're not me. If I was you then you would be me etc....

Na I havent run the bug at the track yet, wont pass tech.

Yeah I'm still running the stock turbo, I know if I hooked up better I could break 9.0 in the 1/8. At least run low 9's. I'll be running a 50 trim next month. I do want to get some better axles along with LSD. I heard that with slicks, stuff will break because of all the stress hooking up. With drag radials, they "give" a little, ie: will spin. Is this true?

I went ahead and got myself a 26x10x15 slick on a set of weld rims. I did have to add a spacer (1.5") to it so it wont hit the bottem of the spring. But again Im running a Elantra and not a DSM car.

But........ I do have a fully built 4g63T w/GT40 Turbo and alot more mods

so would it be better to runa 24x8x15 slick over a set of 225 drag radials? Also is there enough clearance to stil be able to turn?

There is no comparison between slicks and ANY radials.

My car on the way home from the track was melting my 245's off in 3rd, and according to the logs was loosing traction at 130mph in 4th as well.

On the track with slicks, I had ZERO traction issues.

Plenty of clearance to turn, lock to lock. Just don't try to take any fast turns. :)

Anyone running the AWD big brakes and slicks? If so, will 15" wheels still fit? What kind of wheels?

yes i have the big brakes from a 97 Talon Tsi on mine, and ran 15 inch blackies from a neon, and a 23 inch M/T Slick I use a tiny spacer

I am currently running 26" x 10" M/Ts on 15" x 9" Welds. Had to shave the big brakes a bit to fit them. Had small brakes before and they had to be cut and ground down to the point that I didn't think it was safe. best 60s are in the low 1.5x range.

Don't be afraid to let the slicks spin when launching. It is far better than bogging from not being aggressive enough.

For you 2g guys on stock brakes, I run the MT 26x8.5x14 on stock eclispe RS wheels. Granetd, I am on stock ride height as well, but they clear w/o a spacer. On of the tires did run on the top bot coming down form the top, but I imagine it happened in a turn.
I didn't try to launch it but my car spins street tires all the way to redline in 3rd from a roll. With the slicks it hoocked up from a second gear roll :) No launches yet.

This is a a built 2.4/pt67, not my profile setup or dyno numbers.

I'm pretty sure my 15" x 9" Welds have 5.5" backspacing. I also shaved the big brake calipers a bit and am running AGXs with coilovers. The spring perch is cut.

ok i have a little question. i am woundering if i can run gsx dual piston calipers and a 12 inch rotor with my slick setup. i have a set of 15 inch rims and am about to order some 24.5/8.5/15 slicks. i am woundering if the wheels will clear the break setup

I run a weld draglite 15X9 4.5 backspace and a 7/16 spacer. The tire is a 275-50-15 it barely clears but it does. Thats with Ground control coil overs with the car a little lower than stock. Those are my street tires. For the track its 15X8" 4.5 backspace 7/16 spacer an mickey thompson 26X8.5X15" slicks.

And Kevin I have to slightly have to disagree with the fact about drag radials being harder on drivetrain parts. Before I switched to the 275-50-15 I was running a 225-45-17 BFG comp T/A drag radial, and not a single broken part, And I even ran those tires bald. Thats even before I went with upgraded axles. That a low profile stiff as hell sidewall. I think it more in the suspension and chassis that causes all the wheel hops and shimmys.

hey just wanted to know if a 22x7x13 slick would be benificial to my 1991 eclipse gs-t fwd.... any opinions???
