Hey guys,

i was looking at the writeup 92dtsi made on relocating the battery and notice he used some sort of car audio fuse box instead of using the factory one that moutns tot he battery. Heres a pic of the stuff

Im thinking about getting a setup liek this but need some answeres first, as you notice int he pic there are wires coming out both sides on the box and there is another clear block on there which I dont know what the point of having it is for, and I dotn even see his battery cable in the pic and am wondering how all this is hooked up then, if anyone can chime in Id appreciate, also, a good place online to acquire these things would be appreciateed as well.

I might be wrong, but this is a guess.

The clear box could be for the alternator with the fuse in it. This wire then goes in the blue box which could be a distribution block with 2 wires going in (the alternator and battery wires) and then one big wire going to the trunk where the battery is.

Did you PM him yet??

For car audio stuff try www.cardomain.com or ebay.

I got what your looking for. Give me a few mins to go out and snap some pics. I'll show you what I mean.

I dont like that write up but this is what it is. The blue box is a distrabution box and the clear box is a fuse. I have the same setup except I have the fuse box by the battery. IMO if you have that long a$$ 2 gauge wire going to the trunk you would want to have the fuse by the battery so if something were to ground you would not cause a fire. Remember if the fuse blows the wire is still hot between the box and the battery.

What amp is the fuse set for? I am also wanting to do this mod and can't find anywhere that tells you what the fuse amp should be.

I am using a 250. I have used it for well over 2 years with no problem.

To anybody doing this:
Make sure you double and triple check your wire going from the distro. block to the trunk. I did this and zip tied the wire to the fire wall. Well one of my zip ties failed and the wire dropped alittle bit. Just enough to touch the egr tube. Eventually the tube melted the plastic cover on the wire and the wire grounded out and put a hole in the egr tube. A big hole!!! Think about it.... Hot exhaust gases(very flamable) and a nice 12 volt spark. If my fuse had been under the hood by the distro. block I would have been a ball of fire going down I20.
