Functional roll bar for the Spyder

Hello everyone,
I am new to the site and also a new owner of a 97 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder Gs-t. I saw that there was a "light bar" available for my car, but I am looking for something that will help me incase of a rollover. I am not planning on rolling my car, but it would make me feel safer when driving.

Does anyone know where i can get one?

How does this look when installed on a Spyder? From the site listing, it says Eclipse 95-99 but doesn't specify if it is for the Spyder. Is there another option?
 
Sorry, just thought that someone here might know that owns a spyder. I come from a community of Toyota enthusiasts and I guess I just expected someone to know.
 
maybe i can help...LOL

first off the one i have is functional and has a built in led brake light...overall it looks awsome i think, gives a real diff look to the spyder...

i got mine from AndysAutoSport.com
they come in black, grey and tan...depending on interior

installation wasn't really that bad, dont do it alone, its hard to manuever the thing by yourself, and im not exactly weak, its just awkward...

the one downside about it is that you have to get rid of the rear speakers, for the bar to be functional you have to bolt it in and everything (obviously), but the way the bar is inside the car, the speakers have to be takend out...

What you have is a light bar. Not really a Roll bar. I am looking for a 4 point roll bar that will pass nhra inspection. According to the rules any convertible running 13.5 or faster hast to have a 4-point roll bar welded to the frame or uni-body. I think that I will have to have one custom made. And I am already a sec too fast.
 
Yea, the light bar gives no real roll over protection. If you are getting it for lookings get the light bar but if you are going for function go with the roll bar. I felt the car to be stiffer afterwards.

That looks crazy! How does the top clear when putting it down and closing it back up?

Where did you find that roll cage at? That is what I am looking for.
 
He most likely had it custom made, Just have one fabbed up for you, You will spend just as much on a prefab then paying to have it welded in.
 
Yea, the top is fully functional. It is easier to put cages in convertible because there is room to move around. I paid $650. Meets SCCA requirements too. :thumb:
 
Im going with this one. I emailed them about it fitting a spyder, and since they are relatively close to me, they said I can stop in and theyll measure it out for me. Im assuming some cutting may be involved with mounting the rear of the cage...

I'd like to see what that Autopower Street Roll Bar looks like in a spyder if anyone's done it. I like that it says rear seats and interior can stay in tact. If it doesn't pass SCCA or NHRA inspections though... Seems like you might be better off just getting a light bar unless it boosts your personal feeling of safety.
