I searched but couldn't find anything on it on the forums. I was doing some research on the forums about E85 conversions and I came upon this converter box you install in between your ECU and the injectors. What it supposedly does is let anything EFI vehicle become a flex fuel vehicle, that is run on E85, gasoline, and a mixture. I guess it makes these fuel maps and uses them by converting the voltage coming from the ECU or something.

Anyway was wondering if anyone has used something like this. There is ONE E85 pump near my house and I was considering using it but not sure if it worx period or will work for turbocharged cars. The flex feature would be nice too just in case I'm running out of gas and there's no E85 near.

Here's the website for more info: E85 Conversion Kits Change2E85.com

Please note: not legal for sale or use in California on any certified or controlled vehicles/engines..

Ca won't let you do much to a vehicle.

You don't need a "kit" to run E85. Just a large pump and injectors. There is no need for this "kit"

Eh, I wonder if it automatically tunes it for your injectors though :hmm:

If so you could just buy bigger injectors, this box, re-wired 255 and be all set. I wonder about the tune though. Either way for $320 it's not really worth it.

Well its not really a kit, I read on some other site that it adjust your injector pulsewidth so that you can run E85. You pretty much just plug it in to your ECU and then to your injectors then ground it. Then it supposedly learns the ECUs fuel maps and creates different maps for E85. I watched their movie and they say you start it up so it can learn your fuel maps then put half a tank of E85 in then when that's done just run straight E85. It does sound like a magical gadget like the electric supercharger. =(

Has anyone actually tried this?

Yeah the smog nazis don't let you do anything to your car but people still do it =P

I think getting a new pump and bigger injectors is great but if this thing does work it lets you switch between E85 and gasoline automatically

this month's hotrod has a section in there about a kit that actually self tunes the mix..but it costs more than 300 bucks. its part FAST xfi or some other kit, but it can check fuel by type and will tune to run that fuel, including eXX blends with gasoline. check it out on hotrod.com and search, or go pick up the mag.
