Hey i got a question about fuel upgrades, (Injectors, Fuel pump, etc.) I am wondering what the best upgrades would be. I have the 16g evoIII turbo on my car now and im worried about the ideas for fuel. what are the best sizes to go with? i hear alot about 550cc injectors, but what size fuel pump would be the best? Also im wondering about the problems that could happen if you don't upgrade the fuel. I have the rest of the car stock, considering the engine except the greddy bov, IC hard pipe kit, and MBC, also have the stock intercooler on the car. Any suggestions about the fuel upgrades would be appreciated.
thanks,

Most people will tell you to be on the safe side and get 660 injectors because you have more room to wiggle with. On the other hand, there's also people who have run 550s and its just enough fuel for them. Of course make sure you have some kind of fuel management device such as an SAFC or DSMLink. 660s are tricky to tune with an SAFC, but DSMLink is a costly investment (though worth every penny).

A 190 pump is more than enough but you should probably invest in a 255 and AFPR just so you can have more room to grow in the future. If you don't upgrade your fuel system, you can't run more than 12-13 psi (if even that)on that EVO III. So in essence, you can't take full advantage of the turbo.

Since you're saying that your car is basically stock, you might want to upgrade the exhaust system before you purchase fuel mods, otherwise you're just going to be choking the turbo. You can get away with the stock IC for now, but after one or two hard runs (be it at the track or on the street), you'll probably heatsoak the thing and get crazy amounts of knock.

Really 550cc injectors would be fine if your planning on running 15-20 psi anything too much higher than that would be uneffecient for the turbo, intercoolor and injectors. Now for the rest of the system, I got the aeromotive fuel pressure regulator and im happy with that and im about to install a 255hp walbro fuel pump with 550cc rc injectors. I also have a 16g on my 1g.
A lot of people say go with bigger injectors and do it once but thats all up to you and what your trying to accomplish. what are your goals, this is your car and what you want be more specific and youll get a lot of better responses directed to your goals and want. You need to know whats going on in your motor before you go adding fuel and boost get a data logger and something to tune with like dsm link or maf translator. Let us know what your goals are.

thanks for the help that really clears things up. I was plannin on upgrading the exhaust and intercooler before i did the fuel so i guess that is the best thing to do. How hard is it to work with one of the SAFC? thanks for the help again.:dsm:

Well I wouldn't suggest messing around with it if you don't know what you're doing. You could wind up doing some serious damage to your car. So you might want to see if you can find a reputable shop in your area that deals with DSMs or other import cars. Worst comes to worst, you could always post a thread on this site asking how to tune your car with the SAFC (when the time comes). I don't know any websites off the top of my head that you could refer to for SAFC tuning, but I'm sure they've been posted before.

You could pick up an EVO VIII or EVO IX pump for pretty cheap ($30-$40 shipped) on evolutionm.net They flow close if not more than the whinebro 190 and stock reliable and quiet :thumb:

You could even pick up some stock EVO injectors there as well (I forgot the cc) that'll work great and you'll save a ton for an SAFC or DSMLink.

I have had a couple people tell me about putting the evoVIII and IX fuel injectors and pumps into the eclipses, but no one on here said anything about it. So at first i was kinda wondering if they weren't a good idea or something. so are they reliable on the 4g63? Will they really not take any tuning to run them in the car?

I read several threads of people using these pumps with no problems. The pumps are made by Denso and are OEM quality. Haven't read much about the injectors since I went with Denso 660cc, but they should be just as reliable as the pumps. They will still need tuning because you are going bigger. So far I haven't read a single thread that contains negative information. Most people don't run them because they go with the Walbro 255 or Supra pump (which is another OEM pump) and 660 or bigger injectors.

550cc injectors should do fine

Right and Wrong. Unless you aren't trying to push the EvoIII to its full potential then 550's are fine. But, if you want to push the turbo and really gets your money's worth for the EvoIII then 550's will not be enough. 650's are a more suitable for the EvoIII because they supply enough fuel and there IDC percentage is low. 550's IDC seem to be very highand max out pretty easy with the EvoIII, that is why I am saying that they will not be enough.
