Ok first, my goals are to just have a strong engine that is dependable but will get up and go when my right foot feels the urge to.

I plan to install a Dual Stage MBC with my low setting at 12 p.s.i. and my high at 18 p.s.i. (maybe 20 or 22 down the road... nothing higher though).

Right now i'm running a 16g turbo with a 1st gen BOV. I have a SAFC installed as well.

I'm wondering though on what route to go when it comes to injectors, fuel pump and FPR.
I did some thread searching and came across this link as a combo for a Wal 255 fuel pump and a FPR..
ImportEvolution.com - Import Performance Parts, DSM, WRX, Supra, Honda
I'm not sure though if i need a 255 or if a 190 would suit me just fine.

Also i've read about people putting 1000cc injectors on just so they didn't have to upgrade later but i don't plan on shooting for 600HP ever so would 650cc be all that i'm looking for?
I don't know how injectors are rated with cc's and i've read charts about p.s.i. ratings but that like reading another language to me.

Basically i'm just looking to see what i need to look into getting to support 18 p.s.i. of boost on a 16G turbo and possibly 22 p.s.i. of boost down the road ( a year or more)

I also needs opinions on getting a Eprom and DSMLink as well because i don't want to spend money on unneeded tuning accessories if my SAFC will have it covered for me.

LASTLY, how does a logger play into all of this? And what kind of money is expected to spend on one?

I really appreciate this guys. This is exactly why the DSM community rocks :rocks:

What you really want to search for are compressor flow maps. You want the turbo you have to be it's max efficiency range so you can get the coldest densest charge out of it i.e. most power. There's a bunch of them listed here. It pretty much explains everything there. It is long, but the information is excellent.

14b's can be had pretty cheap.

The question is.... do you want to lottery on a used 14b that may or may not be in good condition and then underperform to that what a 16G could do? Or do you want to spend a little more money and get a rebuilt 16G that is in perfect condition?

That is how I see the trade offs. One will save you more money than the other. But the other has benefits to it.

True you gotta look at it from both ways...
either way i need to swap out that 16g with my t-25 in the next couple of days....
What all do i need for a turbo swap? some gaskets maybe? or what? =/
thanks

You will also need to change you IC Pipe routing.
Gaskets:
  • Turbo - Manifold Gasket
  • Turbo - O2 Housing Gasket
  • Water inlet crush washer (x 2)
  • Water outlet crush washer (x 2)
  • Oil inlet crush washer (x2)
  • Oil dump tube to turbo dump tube

Also consider new Turbo to manifold bolts (x4) and washers (x8).

Do you know a good vendor with those parts?

I found the Crush washers on ExtremePSI but are they all the same? just copper crush washers?

and what's the last thing you have listed?

thanks bro

I don't have the part numbers on hand.... but if you call JNZ for example they are very helpful and will get you what you need. The banjo bolts for the oil inlet and water inlet/outlet requires 2 crush washers each [one on each side of the banjo connector]... hence the x2 per item.

The turbo manifold bolts are a good idea to replace with each turbo change... heat can fatigue them. There are four turbo bolts. There are also two lock washers per bolt.

Sorry man, i should have worded that better.
I was referring to "Oil dump tube to turbo dump tube"..

and the banjo bolts require these?
