ive been rebuilding my 95 eclipse n/t for a couple of years now and every time i let the car sit for a long period of time it never wants to start. each time ive ended up having to replace the fuel pump cause it doesnt seem to work. im on the 3rd now. what could be the problem?

Are you sure its fuel and not spark? Does it change if you were to jump start it? Also, check the fuel filter and make sure its not restrcited causing the pump to over work and fail. If the car sits for long periods of time it could also be stale gas? Does the pump run at all after it sits? Check for voltage going to the pump when you have the no start condition. If your not getting voltage check your wiring and fuel pump relay. Not sure about the 420a's but there are some vehicles that if a signal from the crank/cam sensor isn't recieved then the pump won't run. Just some food for thought.

the spark is all good. and the car runs fine whenever i do get it started. but as soon as it sits for a period of time it wont run. ive replaced the cylinoid already and the pumps keep going bad. or the pump just wont do anything. and it has power to it ive checked

Have you checked to see if maybe it is not just the priming part of the system that is going out? You may be able to test it for power but when you first go to start the car it should have 1-3 seconds or so of power to start pushing the fuel to the rail and build pressure till it starts so it does not flood. I would check the mfi relay located on the back side of the radio as it is also the fuel pump relay. You can also take the pump out and do an old fashioned test by touching a positive and negative wire to the pump to see if it kicks on just to make sure that you are not just replacing a working pump and bumping things around and then it works but the problem comes back. But if it were me i would go through the fuel system just to be safe and make sure im not wasting money.

i will check the relays and i know it has power to it. and even if the gas was old it would still run. just not very good. just cant figure out what part of the fuel system isnt working:confused:
