well as the title states im looking for what kind of fuel mods/tuning that im going to need to get a decent setup out of an evo 3 16g and i am aiming for 350 ish hp if possible.

the goal here is to keep cost down and keep it daily drivin.

i was thinking that a 190lph pump/rewire, 660's and a safc 2 would get me to where i wanna be on gas.

however im wondering what the limits of the safc is or what if i want to go with e-85, if the safc would be enough.

i also dont know if a cam would realy help the setup or not. ive got some dual valve springs and such but i dont wanna go realy radical with the whole setup as this is more of my DD/winter car than anything, but i would still like it to be fun and decent.

thoguhts and imputs are welcom

just me i would say go with 550 inj. your 190 fuel pump and meth injection. I know a couple guys running about 20lbs on stock smic with that setup tuning with a safc. What im learning from my local dsm community is meth is cool you should try it. LOL

Have you looked into dsmlink? then you can go with the biggest injectors you can, 350 with the evo 3 buddy of mine hit around that, with a little work.

Would be alot easier with DSMLink. I remember running the EFI PMS setup which was a piggy back engine management system for the 1g/2g DSMs back in the day. It was your typical MAF frequency offset type piggyback setup which lied to the ECU about airflow to compensate for bigger injectors. It even had timing control supposedly, problem was you couldn't lock in the timing as it was directly linked to airflow. I'd imagine not unlike an SAFC.

Once I switched to DSMLink I fixed all the stock ECU driveability issues and the car just got dead consistent.

I've always thought an SAFC with 660cc injectors would put you on a pretty aggressive timing map, this is my only concern. I've run an HKS VPC setup as well on both 1g/2g DSMs and it most definitely puts me on an aggressive timing schedule since reported airflow values are way lower than actual. That was a speed density system which had its own set of issues.

You could always try the share ware DSM ECU software for burning your own chip, name escapes me at the moment.

Ahhh, the cost what do you already have, do you want to upgrade in the future. And do you have a budget i guess there are options just depends on what you want to spend?

The 660s will cause a pretty aggressive timing map with the safc as said. I would recommend a custom Dsmchip and fine tune with the afc for a budget. 660s will most likely not be adequate on full e85 at probably 17-18psi+(a guess). they will be plenty adequate for pump gas/meth though. You can pick up a evo9 fuel pump for a cheaper alternative to walbro 190lph. I would recommend a better form of tuning than just a afc to optimize the benefits of e85 (timing, fuel) and you will really need a wideband too. The dsmchip set up for e85 should work well with the afc. Talk to Jeff, im sure he could set you up with a good base tune. You should definitely have a logger before any adjustments are made with anything

So you will need more than just a turbo, and fuel, also a logger, wideband, how about a fmic? and like toofast said the dsm chip will also help.

If youre going to be running the meth, youre stock smic may be sufficient, but obviously the fmic will do a better job of cooling at high boost(or any boost) and allow more aggressive tune and more power. I would look through the upgrade paths on this site as they are very useful are based on what youre looking for. Also you will want to upgrade your exhaust manifold as well as o2housing or port the death out of them.

i actualy forgot to mention that i have a 3" gm maft, and a logger.

the fmic or air/water will be there when the time is right, same as the wideband.

i do not want to use meth either, just another thing i need to worry about refilling and i live about an hour from any kind of "normal" city.

im just trying to figure out what ill need to keep costs down but still be able to tune correctly.

as much as i want dsm link the 700+ price tag for the full setup is a bit much, and if thats whats needed for e-85, ill just stick with gasoline.

for the most part i have everything figured out i just dont know what im going to need in terms of the fuel system.

would using the maft to compensate for the injectors then using the safc to fine tune be enough?

the plan is once i get the car all tuned up and running well, that will be the end of upgrading the dsm for a while as most of my time will end up going to my 94 cobra

I think a socketed ECU, the DSMchip that was mentioned, and SAFC for rpm based fuel control beyond the chips settings would probably be the cheapest. If the chip adjusts the global fuel for the 660 cc injectors in the fuel map and dials in the injector deadtime correctly, then it could work out nicely.

As I recall from my days with my 1g DSM, it had a fairly aggressive ignition timing curve and timing control isn't as big a deal as it is on 2g's with their crappy ignition curves.

Eprom+chip burned for 750s, 750's, 255hp, evoIII, safc, wideband. There's your combo. Probably need a clutch to handle it too.

so from my understanding

stage 3 chip
750's
afc
and a 190 or evo pump, (trying to avoid an afpr if possable)

these should put me where i want to be?

now would i be able to run e85 with the chip or no? i looked at the site but couldnt get an answer from it

as for the clutch ive got a fidanza 3.2 and a stage 3 shep rebuild tranny

The evo pump should work with your stock fpr but you'll be pushing it and if you ever decide to go over 350, you'll end up buying another pump and an afpr anyways. Don't go by generic "stages" on chips either, get a chip burned exactly for what you're using and what you want/need.

if i was to break 300 at the wheels id probly be plenty happy with the car.

just have to look for the right deals and ill be set it sounds like
