Fuel Pump noise

I am using a stock 63t fuel pump. i noticed this sound about two days ago, whenever i drive in the afternoon and when the weather is hot, the fuel pump make a loud sound in every 3-5 seconds when idle. I m using SARD fuel pressure regulator (set @ 2.8 bar) and standard 450 injectors for my 63t with Evo 2 16g. Thanks

Any drivability problems? Fuel pumps make noise when the tank is near empty, its normal.

All are alright, but when i set the MBC higher, the boost does not increase. it run 0.6 bar on 1st and 2nd gear and 0.8 bar at 3rd ,4th and 5th gear. The pump sound only appear when i drive long distance.

When I had my walbro it would whine louder and louder the closer you get to an empty tank, are you sure thats not the problem?

my fuel tank was 3/4 full, so i don't think this is the problem, i have never heard of this loud sound coming out from the fuel tank before whether the fuel tank is full or not. Is the fuel pump going to stop working? Thanks for replying.

My fuel pump is always loud I believe it is stock, I like you was worried about the safety so I ordered a new walbro just to be on the safe side, on the bright side it was only $90 shipped (ebay rocks!) and it was a necessary part of my upgrade path anyways. Also imo any unusual noises on cars are usually a problem that will only get worse. I recommend cleaning your fuel system, flushing the fuel tank, and replacing the fuel pump.

I noticed that with a bad voltage regulator creating only 13V to the charging system, it would whine a lot louder then normal. I Dynomatted the top tank plate...not sure if it made a difference...

I bought and installed a new walbro 255 fuel pump, changed all the wiring to the fuel pump. Today i went to the fuel station and add about 12 litres of fuel then I try to start the car, it wont run/crank . The fuel pump seems not working, i didn't hear any noise inside the fuel tank. I checked the wiring and relay to the fuel pump but they seem alright. My friend said that I shouldn't leave the tank empty because walbro fuel pump will die if there is no fuel in the tank. Is it true?

That's most likely not the problem

With high pressure Bosch fuel pumps this does happen, but only after the pump is well broken in (15k miles or more). If the fuel pump is broken in and the car runs out of fuel, the car will still start and run after re-fueling... but only for about 200 miles and then permanantly die

I had this happen two times with the high-pressure Bosch, and both times it happened the same way... 200-300 miles after running the car out of fuel. Many other people told me it was common after running out of fuel.
Not cool at $160 to $220 a pump.
After the second time I NEVER ran the tank out of fuel again

What happens is the fluid act as the lubricant for the gears that pump the gas. When the gears are broken in, and it tries to pump air, the lack of lubrication eats up the gears.

I have never heard of this happening with a Walbro, but I guess it's possible. I think you would have been at least able to start your car, after filling up, if it were the pump.

I didn't see you mention checking the fuel pump fuse

Where is the fuel pump fuse located? under the steering wheel?
