Hi guys & gals, what's up?

I bought my 2G 98-GST with walbro 255lph fuel pump. It makes a loud noise that I got used to somehow and is not that big of a deal when I'm pushing the car :D or having the music on.

I searched the fourm hoping to find maybe a solution for this noise, but no luck  Dose anyone have any suggestions as to reduce the amount of noise?

Thank you for your prompt response,

No solution, some are louder than others. I think I have the quietest walbro ever.

Mine's quiet. Take the back seat out and drive around like that for a week, put the seat back in and then you'll think it's quiet.

i've got some dynamat sitting around the garage. I'm thinking about trying to see if its helps quiet mine placing it under the backseat. If it can be heard through 3 inches of foam seat i doubt a 1/4 of tar paper will help. I'm tired of driving around and it sound like a moped is chasing me and gaining.

Thank you all for your replies ...

Is the Supra Fuel pump any good? Where can I buy one?

Cheers mates!

Toyota dealer? Local MKIV owner that had to upgrade her fuel pump?

Works good for me. Is the pump of choice among the people that I know. Quiet, supposedly runs between 260-290lph (rated at 290, but 260 claimed on 2g's due to the small wiring used stock).

I notice my walbro isn't whining as much lately
guess it goes away or get quieter after awhile

Might want to check that out.OMG Getting quieter after awhile could be a sign of malfunction.

My wineboro is the loudest, most arrogant pump I've ever heard. I have no idea why it's so loud, but it gets the job done - I pull all the high o2s at high boost that I need.

It's bad when a noise that goes away worries you.

I've seen mufflers for them made out of some kind of foam rubber that looks like rollbar padding (although I think that would rot in gas, not a good thing). Ideally, you want to decouple it from the sounding board of the top of the gas tank; I don't know what if any opportunity there is to mount it on rubber isolators. Next choice would be to "blimp" it, where you just smother the noise with padding. Some firm rubber padding might help a lot, mounted under the seat.
But if the Supra pump's enough, it sounds like the best option.
