I have a walbro 255 on the way and am just wondering how much time does it take to install, (how long is the average job) and how difficult is it? I've never messed with pumps so im in the blue here...

Not very long at all. Maybe an hour or two. Depends if you have it on a lift or not and how much of a hurry you are to get it done.

Haha! a fuel pump on a 90 is going to be naaaasty. You will curse like a sailor, and be so very pissed off trying to do so. Getting the fuel line off will be a bi***, especially from a MI car. expect parts to be rusted. Buy a couple of cans of PB blast and go to town..

I hate fuel pump installs. I'd rather do ANYTHING else than a fuel pump install.

also make sure you get flared wrenches for your fuel lines. And spray everything with PB Blaster an hour before you plan on doing it. This is one of those things you cant spray to much. Also be carefull of the little nuts on top as they like to break. Read up on some of the installs also from the VFAQ as they have a few in there with some good pointers.

Don't even try disconnecting the fuel line up top. Disconnect the rubber hose from the hard line under the car and take the hose and pump assembly out together. Otherwise your next post will likely be: I broke the fuel line, where do I get a new pump assembly.

The swap is easy, getting the assembly out of the tank can take a day if you don't want to break anything. You have to coax those rusted nuts off the studs.

I just used PB blaster a few times on it (day night day night) then it came undone without any problems. The only problem I had was getting the screw out that held the bracket on the bottom of the fuel pump and the screw holding the ground wire. Still only took about 45 mins from start to finish.

It's a hella easy job if you ask me. Just go to www.vfaq.com under the fuel section and it'll tell you how to do it.
