i got a problem , the header on my car glowes red now for some reason i put the factory header back on and it still glows red i think it is a fuel problem , I was just wondering how i could make it run a little richer just too see if it help ,any way to do this with out spending a lot of money

honostly, I'd just wrap it in exhaust tape to keep all that heat inside...

ok yes the car is turbo but it ran fine untill now .I did heat wrap the header and the heat wrap went up in flames because of lean fuel mixture , I blew a head gasket . now all of that is fixed but it is still lean as hell . i forgot to tell you guys that i was racing when the heat wrap caught fire and i was really low on fuel. I think maybe the fuel filter is stopped up or maybe my injectors are dirty. if i ran the same amount of fuel but with a much higher octane would that work ?

You are supposed to use highest available octane to avoid knock.

Please research you car before you kill it. www.vfaq.com great place, read everything on there. It is normal for the mani to glow, but you definatly seem to have a problem running lean.

i run 93 everytime i fill up but i was thinking 105, It ran fine on 93 for 3 years why is it glowing now ? I quessed it was running lean dont know for sure just thought that would be it . I have built 4 dsm's and owned 6 i have never scene any thing like this. maybe injectors dirty?

You've got an upgraded fuel pump right? (still hear the humming in the back, thats what lets you know its working). Maybe its your fuel pressure riser thats not woking correctly, wo when you hit boost the car isn't getting what it needs then.
A new fuel filter always helps, or maybe its time for a fuel rail to help even out the cylinder distribution.
Check your compresssion recently? (probably doesn't help now since you blew the head gasket).

HOw big is your exhaust/downpipe piping? and do u still have your stock cat in?

What kind of turbo are u using? and does your boost gauge hold boost like normal?

Those are just some questions that I hope will jog your memory to figure out whats wrong.
Good luck

compression is fine ,i have a 255 pump 2 1/2 strait pipe exaust , 14b turbo 11.5 psi ,i bought an afc today and I am going to go get a fuel filter i am sure running it that low on gas didnt help it . I think the fuel filter will do the trick because it ran fine befor i ran low on gas thanks for all of your help i will let u know if that fixed the problem

While your at it, check your Fuel Pressure Regulator to see if its turned up enough.

try turning down your boost, the higher the boost, the more fuel has to go into the engine, so if you are leaning out, turn down the boost and up the fuel pressure a bit and it should eventually even out... the manifold will glow a little, but i doubt it would catch exhaust tape on fire if working correctly.... if nothing works, i'd take it to a garage because warrentys rock...

thanks for all of your help i am sure i will get it going this weekend, i just have to find time to install the fuel filter and afc .my fliter is stopped up i am going to invest in a fuel pressure gauge next . how would i go about cleaning all of the stuff flaoting in my tank

May want to look at the injectors not being able to give the car enough fuel... if you had a n/t and put a turbo on, you need bigger injectors... or your injectors could be clogged up a bit, you know, it could be a problem in there....
