I'm having to replace the previous owners screw ups and have seen that most people use this location for the pressure source for the boost gauge, now upon looking around, there are no vac lines going to the solenoid where my index finger is pointing, also what's the plug that's not plugged into something for?

There was no reason to eliminate the solenoid so hook it back up.
The triangle plug is likely air conditioner if the car is running as the other triangle connector in the area is coil pack if I recall.

So that makes sense then for the plug, it doesn't have the ac unit. Also why would he have disconnected the solenoid?

Because they like to make the engine hard to start?
If I'm not mistaken, the solenoid is closed when cranking to raise the fuel pressure when starting the engine. Without it, cranking will create some vacuum, pulling the pressure down.
