Are FPR a alternative to say the Apexi AFC? I'm hoping to get a 14B with 550 injectors and need something to turn up the fuel. Thanks.

If you put in 550s you need to turn the fuel down. You'll need an AFC or DSMLink for sure.

On topic what base fuel pressure range can everyone get with the soft spring? Just wondering, I put a cafpr on my friends 91 with a supra pump and had to put in the stiffer spring to get 38psi base pressure.

I also am running a Supra pump and a cafpr, and I'm running 43 psi (w/no vacuum line) on the soft spring.

Do you guys have the earlier style ca units with the fuel pressure port on the regulator itself? Todd's fp gauge tap is in the stock banjo bolt on the fuel filter.

i put one on my 95 rs,it was apain and took lots of modification, since my factory fpr doesnt come off,i had to grind down the base, use longer screws new o rings and retap the adjustment bolt and put in a longer one. other than that it works fine,i can go up to 90 pounds or down to 30,it wont hold anything over 50 p.s.i,after 6000 but who cares 50 is enough.

You have no idea what you are talking about. Also, turning your fuel pressure up to 90psi will stick your injector open. The B&M is junk. On an RS I guess it doesn't really matter anyway.

i didnt say i ran it at 90p.s.i. what part of what i typed do i not know,i did it so obviously,,,,anyway all i wanted to know was what was wrong with the b&m, i didnt need some punk tellin me i dont know what im talkin about!

This right here tells me you don't know what you are talking about. The B&M doesn't allow you to turn your pressure down, the big reason why it is junk. So tell me how you got down to 30psi with it, please. The spring, with no preload, is stuck at whatever the stock pressure is. You can add preload and up the pressure but you can't take it away. It's just not possible.

Yes, I am a "punk".

have you ever put a b&m on a 95rs?if so you know it wont fit,you have to modify it,like i said,i had to grind down the factory fpr on the sides cause they were too big around for the b&m,i also had to grind out the back of the b&M because the feul rail was too big around, and as i said i used longer bolts to hold it over the stock, cut part,of my regulator,,,,which meant that the front of the fpr was further away from the diafram, inside the regulator,so i retaped the hole and used a longer bolt,,,,,,,,,so smarta**,,,,,i can back the bolt out till there is just what pressure the stock fuel pump is pushing out,,about 30p.s.i.,,,,,or i can run the screw in and turn it up till it tops out the b&m fuel pressure guage at like 90 p.s.i. or so,,,,,anymore questions,,,?i do know what im talkin about its on my car in my garage now,,,,,,

the punk is for coming on here downin my car,,,PUNK,,,,my dad didnt buy mine,i dont live at home and if i did,,,,,id hope i could come up with something better than what you got so,,,,,if you dont thrash peoples cars for no reason,,,,,as a matter of fact ive got more in the stereo in my car than what i could go buy your car for!PUNK,wisemen are more withholding of there tongues!

,,,,,,,,,,like I said,,,,you don't,,,,,,,know what you are,,,,,,,,talking about......,,,,,,,so just stop.

what is wrong with the b&m,i was curious so if there was something bad, i could change it,,,any real help will be greatly appreciated!

The problem with the B&M Command Flo is that you CANNOT (I don't care what you say you've done, by design it is impossible) LOWER fuel pressure. Which in your case, since you do not have an upgraded fuel pump and will never need an upgraded fuel pump, is not a problem. You didn't even need an AFPR in the first place. What about what I am saying do you not understand?

If for some reason, in your "hacking" have managed to remove preload from the spring to the point that it is not seated at all, then it is possible that you have somehow managed to lower the fuel pressure. But this removes all functionality of the device. In the case of a turbo car the FPR raises the fuel pressure to keep a static pressure across the injector during possitive manifold pressures. In the case of an N/T the opposite would happen, fuel pressure would be lowered. By having the spring unseated you remove the ability of the FPR to do this. You will run rich. In your case where that much extra fuel is needed the STOCK FPR will work much better, give better performance and better gas mileage. Do you understand?

if youd have said that in the first place!i used the b&m to give me more fuel pessure,so that it runs richer and wont lean out at the top when i hit nos, which is seldom, but still,if there was a problem with the b&m i wanted to know.thanks"batman"for making my first question a truly regretted experience!:D

Yes, there is something wrong with the B&M, I just told you that. I already told you that on an RS, which we weren't even discussing, it doesn't really matter. I wasn't making fun of your car, I'm just telling you, it doesn't matter because you won't be putting a bigger pump in.

Do you even have nitrous? If you buy a wet nitrous kit, like you are so supposed to for DSMs, it comes with everything needed for propper fuel enrichment. No need to up the fuel pressure on your own. See, this is why I make assumptions like, "you don't know what you are talking about." And I do so simply to protect others from thinking what you are saying is right and ruining their cars off something you said. It's nothing personal, it's a simple public service to protect others.

i am running a zex kit and as far as messing up cars ive been running mine ths way for about 3000 miles now and its still tip top!

I saw in the VFAQ a picture of the 1G and 2G fuel rails next to each other and it looks like the 1G rail is indeed a direct bolt-on replacement for a 2G. Is there a VFAQ somewhere on how to remove/install the fuel rail? I looked in my service manual, but can't find anything yet. I'll keep looking...

The fuel rail should be fairly easy to remove.
There are a few bolts that go through it into the manifold and it should just lift off.

Get the first gen feul rail and the spoolin afpr. I just put in the aero motive afpr and it's a MAJOR PITA. It's in now so it's over with but it wasn't as easy as the vfaq made it look( the vfaq was on a 1st gen). My advise is to get anyone that will bolt to first gen feul rail you wouldn't understand the trouble you'll be saving your self unless you've done it the other way, and I have.

i might as well chime in my $.02.......

batmangsx is right throughout this whole Thread.....

the reason the BM is junk is because you cant lower it. when i upgraded to a walbro 255lph hp pump...... my BASE fuel pressure was too high. that is why you NEED to lower the pressure back around 43psi or so.

you want to increase fuel pressure on a 1:1 ratio. for every pound of boost you go up you want to add 1psi of fuel pressure.

furthermore. another reason you cant lower the pressure with the BM unit is because the way the fuel return fitting/line is crimped into the regulator. it is physically too small of an opening to allow enough fuel to pass through without letting the pressure build.............

side note.. the 91-94 is a direct replacement for the 95-99.. the 90 doesnt fit..

Maybe you could have ignored my post, since A) you don't have a 2G, B) you already have an AFPR. I think you are bitter and angry about something... the only thing I can think of is that a "little dirtball" like me was able to become a DSM Wiseman and you could not - aka jealousy.

All JDMAWD is tryin to say is quit being a prick to everyone, you are gonna make the site lose members. LTRTsiAWD is very polite about his posts even if he is answering the stupidest ?'s
