fuel line flange to rail

Ok so my mechanic is telling me that the flange that goes to the inlet of the fuel rail does not fit the extra stock fuel rail he has. He says the flange on the fuel line is too big n the holes dont line up. Can anyone confirm the size of an afm fuel rail flange compared to a stock . Does anyone with an afm fuel rail know of u had to get a special or custom flange to use that rail?

I did a search and couldnt find what i was looking for. Thanx

What's an AFM fuel rail? Do you mean AEM?

1G and 2G rails have different size flanges on the end. Is it possible you're mixing up 1G and 2G stuff? A pic would really help.

Yeah i guess its aem. Sorry. So the 1g and 2g fuel rails have different flanges? Whixh one is bigger? Im thinking this guy has a 1g fuel rail.

I think the bolt spacing on the 1G rail is larger, but i don't have one to measure, so you'll have to double check that.

But if you have a 2G car with stock fuel hoses, the AEM rail should bolt right in.

That pic shows the fpr end. I need to know the other side where the fuel goes on. Thats the flange i need.

Ok upon further investigation it seems tthat i dont need a rail i need the line that feeds the rail with the flange on it. I called one place n they said its a dicontinued item and it was a dealer here in ny. Are there any aftermarket places that would make such a thing? Or am i s.o.l.?

It's the line from the fuel filter to the rail. Sorry, I don't have a part number.

Check the classifieds section for someone parting out a 2G. Those stock lines sell for cheap.

Check the supporting vendors for an upgrade to the filter to rail kit..Screw the stock line.

When the stock fuel lines gave me trouble I replaced them with braided -6an. Extremepsi sell adapters for stock rails to convert to AN. I am unsure how to adapt that to the stock fuel filter, and I am kind of guessing you aren't afraid to upgrade fuel system components because of the AEM rail. A full -6an feed and a new filter should cost about $300. The only tricky part is creating a bulkhead on the fuel pump assembly, which requires welding.

Just -6an from the filter to the rail would be cheap, $30 for the adapter and whatever amount of hose you buy plus a few $10 fittings. I just wish I could remember what fitting to adapt -6an to 14mmX1.5 or whatever the fuel filter has on the top. I know I got one from anplumbing.com

It's 12mm X 1.25. Same as a Solex or Mikuni carburetor inlet. That's how I remember it.

Looks like an adapter is the cheapest, $15 for a -6an male to 12mmX1.25 male, Earl's part #949091

The OE filter has a female port, so the adapter would have to have a male end.

That Earls part number that you posted is a 90* fitting. For a straight fitting that uses a crush washer (what I prefer for the top of the OE filter) is an Earls part number 991945.

Yeah I figured a 90 would be good since it could point to the rail.

STM has filter to rail kit and its the nylon braided hose wich is 100x better to work with than the SS

but for what its worth, I would recommend looking into the tank to rail kit as I garauntee you are going to have a hell of a time getting the line off the stock fuel filter. I ended up shearing mine off just as many others have also. The tank to rail kit is breeze to install and comes with a fuel filter as well. Up to you tho.

You sheared the banjo bolt off the top??

A little late but I wanted to drop some info for future reference

Have a 2G rail here and these are exact measurements
Overall length, flange to flange is 13-13/16"
Inside diameter that goes all the way through is 16MM
Bolt hole spacing, center to center, FPR side is 40MM
Bolt hole spacing, center to center, fuel line side is 37MM


This probably doesn't help OP but I've maybe once, probably never seen these measurements posted before.
The stock rails are very good, they have plenty of flow capability, as most people only need 6AN, this rail can be tapped for 8AN

No, when I was trying to break the top loose, the entire assembly twisted and sheared the hard line running to the bottom of the filter

Yeah, you gotta hold the filter assemby in place with a wrench or that can happen.

I was, the wrench slipped and it that split second it was toast oh well, good excuse to upgrade entire fuel system right on a side note Paul, I got my PTE 6235r on and have 0 traction issues! It provides just enough lag to control before it starts to scream. Granted I had to revamp my launch technique slightly and am only running 20psi at the moment
