Hi everyone I've been considering installing an aftermarket fuel gauge because I feel the stock gauge on mine isn't exactly accurate and i don't want to end up with no gas, so has anyone done this or is it a good idea? Is it hard to do? I need some help in whether or not to do it and how hard is it to do.

DO IT!
mine doesn't work and the other day i=I ran out of fuel, and then when someone finally bring some for me, my battery died out from having my hazards on for a little while. So now my cars sitting in my driveway dead LOL:nono:

There aren't many on the market that use the same resistance range as these cars. Most are build for gm and ford cars. If setup right the stock gauge is decently accurate. You also have the warning light. Just go thru and repair what is damaged and causing the original not to work.

If you are having issues, a new gauge probably wont fix it.

Most likely there is a problem with the float inside your fuel tank. The fuel level sending unit may be bad, or you may have a short somewhere.

Fix that and you should have a 100% accurate stock fuel gauge!

While this is true, it is possible for it to just be a gauge problem. I had one which would from half a tank down would get stuck. I wound up in the middle of nowhere in Virginia with no gas while my gauge said 1/4 tank.

Luckily my friend had some gas at his house and we got it in there and I was able to make it to a gas station. Replaced the gauge cluster and haven't had a problem yet.

well what happens to me is that i fill up and it takes forever to drop as i drive but if i turn off my car and turn it back on i suddenly have 3/4 of a tank instead of a lil bit under full tank as it said i had maybe 30mins before =, could it be as simple as the floater needs to be replaced? or what could be going on?

That's pretty much exactly what mine was doing (accept it /usually/ worked down to a half tank). I swapped out the gauge cluster and it fixed it 100%.

If you can get one for cheap I'd try swapping the gauges out first.

When i upgraded my fuel pump i tested mine to find out it also had a grounding issue, agree on that ...
