:talon: does anyone know how to "unstick" a fuel gauge thats stuck on E? my car sat for a few mounths before i bought it and its stuck on E. :talon:

try running some fuel cleaner through the tank. that might unstick it. do you know if the car ever had the fuel pump changed??

Thats not really gonna do anything. Either the gauge is broken or the sensor is broken.

haha thats a funny one run fuel cleaner through the tank.
Before you declare the sensor or gauge broke pull out the dash and move around the needle n spray wd-40 on it. The needle might just have stuck.

tsss. first of all, just look at the fuel pump cover in the trunk and remove it. Figure out if one of the wire is cutted or broken . Look at the inside of the fuel pump harness plug if its not corroded. if not, then remove the fuel pump assembly and look if something is not working properly ( but it will probably be all right down there) . A fuel pump gauge is working with the ground, fuel level sender is sending more or less ground to the gauge depending of the fuel level in the tank. So i guess the wire is shot

If it's stuck on E, you will need to open your fuel take up and look inside to see what's wrong. There is a bobber type of thing that hangs down inside the tank, that depending on the level of fuel it will float high or low.

I have two guesses.
1) The plastic floater at the end of the bobber is broken and showing E casue it wont float up when there is fuel
2) It's not working right, some how. (for me, wires were wrapped around the bobber making it unable to float correctly).

It's fairly easy to check (if you know how to open up the fuel tank).
