Sorry for so many stupidly simple posts. I cannot find anything online for shit. Was just wondering if you need to prime the fuel filter when replacing or does gravity and the overflow let it happen by itself? I’m a heavy duty mechanic so everything needs to primed what not

Normally when replacing fuel system components, it's best to prime the fuel pump a few times to build fuel pressure and ensure a quick and easy start after repairs. Turn the ignition switch to ON position a few times, you should hear the fuel pump priming and the pitch will deepen as pressure is built.

While you could just attempt a start without building fuel pressure, it would take much longer to start and doesn't make sense considering how quick and easy it is to prime the fuel pump.

ah sweet, thanks boss, figured so.. on semis say, u gotta bleed the air bubbles out or it’ll never be a fully primed system. Thanks for the help

If its a 1g turning the key won't prime the fuel system. It needs to see engine cranking to turn on the fuel pump. Not sure about 2g but its basically irrelevant. It's not like a diesel tho. It might crank a few seconds but you aren't going to have issue like you would with an air pocket in a diesel.
