so ive got a bit of a problem. my car 93 tsi was running pretty good until i retimed it then i started hitting fuel cut! so i put the timing back where it was which was pretty advanced.. started running good.
anyone got any solutions if you want a mod list ill type it up

Are you tuning your fuel maps? And what kind of mods are you running?

cant do any real tuning yet dont have the stuff but i do have the mmcd datalogger my mods are 3'' catback fmic with 2.5'' piping and gm maft

i bought the car with the maft already in the car but the injectors are stock

That was probably detonation not fuel cut..

what do you mean detonation?

detonation = knock. did you install the fmic and the exhaust after you got the car? or were they installed after you got the car? you might be running too lean if you havent adjusted the maft for the difference in airflow

the exhaust and fmic were already there.
ya i have no idea if im running lean i need a afr guage.
the only thing ive done to it myself was put it at stock boost because when i bought it the guy was running full boost :ohdamn:
which i didnt know at the time but its at stock boost and i changed all the dials on the maft to stock or 0

No vac line on the actuator is "no" boost control. You would definitely over spool the turbo. Now my first recommendation would be to learn how to tune with the maft, if he didnt realize he didnt even have a vac line on the actuator he probably didnt know how to tune the maft. Do you know what kind of fuel pump you have? the reason to use a maft is to tune the airflow for a larger fuel setup, not because there is a fmic. If you think your getting a fuel "cut" your probably getting rich knock. Thats how my car was when I bought it, but I also tune with ecmlink now and got rid of the maft.

are u sure the injectors are stock?? Did u check for boost leaks?? if not u should do a boost leak test.

make sure you running the right fuel. some gas stations premiums, like WAWA, do not have 93 octane. sounds dumb, but my friend hit fuel cut doing third gear pulls on the HOV.

I think I'm good on boost I have not done a boost leak in about a month. Last I checked the only thing that leaved was my turbo x's bov. It was around 15 lbs I figure I'm ok because I'm only running like 9lbs of boost. And yes I'm sure the injectors are stock the Mitsubishi blue top 450cc

Alright so next thing I need is a AFR gauge. My fuel pump is stock I've had it out before.

Yes, you absolutely need a wideband, otherwise there isnt really any other data to tune with. You need to move up to ecmlink as well. It's expensive but saves time and money later. And since you have a stock pump with stock injectors, why not use a stock maf and not have to worry about tuning with the maft?

How are you adjusting timing? Are you grounding the timing pin before checking/adjusting? Are you going off the factory boost gauge? If so, that's not an accurate reading of boost. You need to run a boost leak test as well. A wideband AFR gauge should be the next on the list.

Ahh, thank you. Never heard the term before. The concept sounds like a stupid idea.

The term "full boost" usually means the set boost limit and is used to describe spool time. A small 16g reaches full boost around 3k rpm. Running a turbo without a functioning wastegate is really unlimited or maximum boost since the turbo will produce as much boost as it can. It's a very bad idea unless you know what your doing, have serious supporting mods, and don't mind replacing the turbo often.

I really appreciate your guy's input.

Well i plan on upgrading to 650-800ish cc injectors and a wally 255.
So what should i do about the maft?

If you upgrade your fuel setup then you would need the maft to tune for it. But I would wait for a tuning system, I don't think the maft is that reliable of a tune
