Fuel Cut: What is it? How do I fix it? [merged]

I've tried doing a search but to no avail.

I was just wondering what Fuel Cut is. I've heard it tossed around alot, but do not actually know the details behind it. And, naturally, I can gather that its when the fuel is cut off, but when and why.

I have a compressor so it makes things easier. On the inlet line, I have an old SPI boost gauge so I know how much pressure is there. Sometimes It's tough to hold 25 PSI when you make IC pipes from scratch.

It comes in handy. You can test/set your WG to see what PSI the MBC is set to also.
 
With current mods i am hitting fuel cut at 14psi, why is thet? I heard some people run this much boost with no mods with out a fuel cut.
 
pretty slick thinking! I'll think about doing that after I get the boost gauge installed and post the readings :thumb:
 
I got a question though... say if it is boost creeping, would I be able to hook up my bc and turn it down?

umm.. No, if anything you would want to raise it to help solve the creep. Find out what the problem is first and come back for more. You should also do some search on your own, too many of us are spoon feeding you in this thread. ;)
 
haha, ok... just wondering! this seems to be the best source... DSM GODSSSSS :D ... im goin home from work, ill post boost psi when I get it on, about 2hrs... thanks for all the help!
 
ok, lost a fitting and had to go get a new one :thumbdown ... but it's all connected and working (the boost gauge).... when the car's at idle the needle sits at 15 (to the left of the 0)... then when I rev it up it gets up to 10, I tried several times, but the highest it goes is 10.... anyone know what the problem could be now

LOL 15 to the left of 0 = -15, so are you saying

1. You rev it at neutral and it goes to -10?
2. You went "WOT" and it boosts to +10 (10 to the right of 0 :D )?
 
Then you don't have creep and boost leak test is next which was suggested already. :mad: At least search your own thread.
 
I know about the leak test! I may do that tomorrow... too dark outside and cold!

I thought stock boost was supposed to be around 11-13psi?
 
ill check it tomorrow... just weird how this happens after I get an exhaust put on :cry: when before it was working like a charm... but tomorrow ill make sure everything's tightened up and stuff...

for some reason too my engine light went off, I think that may be because my ecu reset because i unplugged the battery for like 2 hrs... I haven't tried to see if it still does it, but I will when I go out later.
 
Just make sure it's not a boost leak visual inspection but a real test. Also, you might be runing rich now that you have the 255 with the stock fpr (fuel pressure regulator). Good luck.
 
You are all nuts! I'm sure you all didn't know everything about dsms whens you first got one. The guy had a question and everyone freaked out about the fuel cut and no boost gauge thing. Yes, that is the first mod you should make, but maybe he did not know. Simma. Second, the situation he described could be a million things, fuel cut included. Maybe you should ask the poster for more info so you could help out instead of trying to sound like a bunch of no it alls(aka internet mechanics)

Humm...very interesting, I've read the whole thread again and seems like you're the only one with zero contribution to his problem. :rolleyes:
