Edmonton,
I have a 95 Eclipse GST that is dropped about 2 inches or so. I have Koni adjustable struts and intrax springs. I have 18" wheels with low profile tires. The tires have been on for about a year and the tread on the outside looked fine, but one day I decided to turn my tires to the side to give the rim a good scrub.. and I noticed that the inner part was of the tire was so worn down I could see the metal mesh in the tire
. I ran over to the other front tire.. and guess what..
. I quickly went to a tire shop and they told me I was about 30 seconds away from blowing a tire depending on conditions, so I got them replaced. I then asked what the cause of this was, and I was told it was due to camber and that I needed a camber kit. I wasnt ready to drop money on it, but I was in a hurry to get this problem resolved to prevent my new expensive tires from wearing out again. I stopped by my favorite DSM shop, he told me a camber kit was a good idea. I went online, others told me it was a good idea. I talked with a few other people that I know with lowered cars, and they all had camber kits. The price is fairly cheap, so I bought one and its going to be installed soon. The rear tires have even wear throughout and look fine and do not need to be replaced. The question I have is, will a camber kit prevent my tires from wearing on the inside, or is this caused by something else?
