I was checking my tires for thread wear and I noticed that my front tires have their thread patterns going in opposite direction. One is going forward one is going backward. Shouldn't they be going the same direction? My rear tires go in the same direction though.

Is this a huge problem or does it barely make any difference. Any help is appritiated.

Are your tires directional? If so, they typically have arrows on the sidewall that point in the direction that they are to rotate.

If they are not directional, it really wont matter.

:thumb: yeah sounds like you have directional tires. maybe the person that put your tires on put one on backwards. they should all be facing the front of the car. the tires are made to perform in a certain direction. if you want to get the maximum performance out of your tires i would get it fixed.

They are Nitto Gen II 225/45/17 tires. I don't think they were put on wrong since it sais "outside" on both tires and it sais "inside" on the inside of the tire which means that they are put on correctly. There are no directional arrows. Perhaps one of the tires is supossed to go on the rear?

I haven't seen any data on Gen II tires. The Neo Gens are asymmetrical but not directional. They are designed to be used with negative camber so they have an outside face and an inside. If they were also directional, you would need a right side tire and a left side tire.
