Hi guys, I just bought a 1998 gst off of craigslist a week ago for $1200 because it was in a light accident, I replaced the bags and bumpercover for $50 *Craigslist once again*

Its a 5 speed with 130K miles, and so far this past week ive Installed:

Greddy FMIC with pipe kit
Turbo Xs bov
HKS Turbo Timer
MBC
Thermal Research Cat back
Vibrant filter adapter with K&n
SAFC
Boost, A/F Ratio and Pyrometer guages
Fidanza Alum Flywheel and act clutch

I am a motorcycle mechanic by trade and I dont beat the living hell out of my vehicles, I just want it to run nice and sound nice, I dont race but like power when I need it.

Im more concerned how these are known for "CrankWalk" and its something I really dont want to experience. Im replacing my timing belt and componets along with the water pump while im in there.

What do I need to be concerned with the most? The tranny was just rebuilt when I bought it and then some woman pulled out and hit him just enought to push in the bumper, crack the bumper support *fiberglass part* and blow the bags.

Hey guys, thanks alot for the suggestions, I guess the 2+ year old tires are to blame, They are brand new but have sat for 2 years in garage. They dont have any dry rot but they are brand new and the car has a slight vibration at higher speeds.

The service records show last inspection resulting in, Left inner tierod replacement and a 4 wheel alignment. It drives fine, I also remember my buddies 99 gst auto being the same way.

I am running stock boost, I know it seems after all the mods im playing it safe, theres a ton of things that can still be done if I want to make it faster, Im just wanting it a good daily driver with a little power.

I went with a 255, mainly because I had one left over from my other project, waiting for the regulator.

Few questions, whats with every bolt head snapping off? And the replacement capacitors on ebay, are they really worth it?

I seems like on my buddys gst when I removed the bumper every single 10mm head bolt snapped off, and its doing the same on this car. I fitted the bumper and was drilling out every bolt that had snapped off and it seems like every one but the top 5 had snapped off.

Yes, im talking about the ones in the ecu.

Interesting, I almost bought this car when I was looking to pick up a dsm. I offered him 2k for it and he refused...and you got it for 1200?!? Nice !

The bolts are 15 years old and probably have been tighten and untighten a few times. Im sure everyone deals with snapping bolts its such a pain.

As for the car, it looks like you got a pretty good deal. I put a 6 puck sprung clutch in my 2g and it crankwalked a month later. As long as you stay with a street disc and a decent pressure plate you should be fine. Traction might always be an issue with FWD but if you get a DD AWD then you have to worry about all that stuff breaking. Stick with the GST and keep it as a fun DD.
