can you put it in the opening, where the mesh would be?? i fit mine in that area on my car. check my gallery and i think you can see the pic of my license plate. may work for you also. not 100% sure if there is room in there on your kit.

Thats where I had it before.. attached to the mesh with zip-ties... but since I have FMIC there now.. i don't want to block the fmic with a license plate... I'll see what I can make in the next few days.. thanks again

you have to have it in the front???

if i were you i would just put it in the center of your grill, or a side top or bottom corner of the grille...

if it's gotta be there, it's gotta be there. you may end up covering up a small portion of your FMIC, but at least your legal. another thing i've seen is putting it in the top corner on the inside and move it up far enough so that the top inch or so of the plate is behind the bumper, but yet still all of your license #'s are showing. you'll save an inch or so of flow to your FMIC that way, and should still be legal.

i had a 30's - 40's street rod in the shop garage here at work last week with one of those on it... very nice piece!

well...in Minnesota i guess we have to have a license plate frame on the car up front, i bought the car with the plate in the window, and i got hit in the face a couple times by it when i was getting on it hard :thumbdown so i just zip-tied it to the radiator lines up front, but my dad wants me to get a frame for it, so where can i get one at? any help or ideas would be nice, or do it yourself projects... thanks.

What the hell is it about having a kid that makes men turn weird? I'm sure every car your dad ever owned was legal, all the parts were stock, he never spent more than maintenance money on it, and it goes without saying he never sped nor screwed in it.

Christ, get a black felt pen, draw around the edge and tell him it's a frame. Before he looks at it, ask him if the house water heater's due for a flushing. That should derail his sorry, over-loaded brain enough that he never again will think about a stupid goddamned license plate frame.

God, there's really more going on in life, dad. Be glad the kid put the front plate on.

I think we're having a semantics issue here. A plate frame would be the cheep nasty plastic things found in thousands of gaudy trinket shops and any auto store that usually say inane things like "don't laugh it's paid for" or "I'd rather be fishing" all it does is surround the plate...it provides no mounting solutions. A plate bracket is a different ball game. It actually provides a mounting surface for the plate.

You just described my father to the letter.

Me - "Dad look at my new bumper"

Dad - "What the hell was wrong with the old one?"

Me - "Did you see my intake?"

Dad - "Is that steel? You're going to break your car. There's a reason they used plastic."

like the title saids..
where can i get a 2g front license plate holder?
mitsubishi?

Yes, I bought my car in PA and live in MD. It is not a law up there so it was not EQUIPED with a LP holder.

Go to the dealer or a junkyard and get it. On a 2G you have to remove the bumper to get it on the car. Just the front bumper and drill in the 2 small dimples already pre-set there.

NOOOOOO, don't punch any holes in the bumper!

The proper factory plate holder mounts under the opening of the mouth on the three bolts there. No, it doesn't obstruct enough air to matter.

I mounted mine on the PS cooler line with a couple of insulated loom clamps. Again, no cooling issues.

I drilled into my bumper :(
Course the cops here are real anal and the window wasnt enough for them. So i went to K-Mart and got a 5$ license plate mounting bracket.. screwed right on, and it dosent look to bad.

Drat, I'll be damned if I can find the picture of the exploded front plate holder that was on here a couple of weeks ago.

Anyway, if it's not too late for you, try Mitsubishi Graveyard, or maybe eBay.

I actually bought my car in VA and they needed to mount their license plates on the front. I have that piece if you need it PM me with an offer and it just bolts up under the upper lip on the front bumper so you don't have to drill holes

I figured I'd let everyone see what I did... I used a strip of steel and bent it using a vise and a hamer... and mounted it to one of the holes that held the SMIC... I'll get some closer pics if people are interested...

I was thinking about taking the front license plate off the front bumper but.. i saw that its gonna leave some holes on the bumper.? So i was wondering how to fill those holes up and if anyone else has done it can you tell me exactly how you did it?

You know those triangular plastic covers at the front edge of the door window that hide the harness for the sideview mirrors? There's a little plastic pop-rivet that holds those in place. I used two of those. I actually spray painted them gloss black and they look very clean on the front of the car.
