front leg room moving seat racks

I am getting ready to purchase a 2003 spyder. I presently own a 1998 RS. I have found that they have shortened the leg room in the 2003 by about 5.5 inches, which is a lot if your 6' 2". Has anyone run into this problem and what have they done. I am thinking of moving the seat tracks back a few inches to gain some room. Has anybody done this, how did you do it, andhow did it work?
