I jacked up my 1999 Eclipse the other day and noticed that the front left wheel moves a couple of mm when you grap it and shake it from side to side. It appears that the whole hub assembly is moving together. Does anyone know what causes it, and how to fix it? Thanks

Most likely it's the tie-rod ends if the movement is side to side. Have someone get underneath and see what is actually moving while you move it, tie-rod, contol arm balljoint or the wheel bearing.

Simple way to verify the hub bearing :
stick one finger in the gap between the rotor and splash shield and shake the wheel with your other hand; if that finger detects any movement between the two, the hub bearing is shot and the hub needs replacing - $150 discount from JNZ.

Don't use the NAPA replacement because the studs are not interchangeable with OEM; the hub itself appears good, but the studs are quite weak and the spline diameter is much smaller than OEM, no idea what studs would be compatible.

There is no need to replace the hub, you can replace the bearing only.

Thanks for the help. I can see movement in the rod that controlls steering. It moves in about 1/16 of an inch or so towards the tranny. (sorry dont know the proper name)

Mac Auto on eBay has replacement hubs w/hardened studs for under $75. Claim they've had hundreds successfully installed and used. Haven't used them myself but might be worth a conversation. Nice folks.

Outer tie-rod end, make sure you change both sides.

It has been pointed out to me that changing bearings is only a 1G thing, my appoligies to ACM. :)
