front cover/oil pump removal issues

I am doing a timing belt, water pump, oil pan gasket, and pump on my 96 gst. I am all the way down to the front cover. I have it broken loose but I can get it out. The last gear that drives the pump from the crank is stuck in there. I have tried to hold it with the belt and break it loose but it continues to spin. I tried holding it in place with a pry bar also and it continued to spin. The bolt is crazy tight for some reason. So I tried to just lower the engine and just slide the hold cover off. Then take the gear off another way. I can't get the engine low enough to do that being that the shafts are still connected. It needs to go a 1/2 inch lower yet. I'm wondering if there's something I'm missing or if anyone has another way of doing it. Thanks

You need a special tool . Its available on ebay for sure or you could make one. Search 4g63
crankshaft sprocket removal tool.

I already have the crankshaft sprocket off. I used the belt under tension to hold the gear from spinning and put an impact on it. It broke free pretty easy. This is the upper left sprocket that the small balance shaft belt(I believe that's what its called) is on. I tried the belt trick again but I wasn't able to keep the sprocket still.
